Update — Monday, December 19, 6:22 p.m.: Construction in the bus loop at the station continues until March 31, 2017. When crews starting digging the elevator shaft, high groundwater penetrated the shaft and delayed excavation for several months.
Update — Friday, August 12, 11:04 p.m.: Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14, the contractor uses a generator at the station.

Update — Wednesday, December 14, 4:49 p.m.: Starting today, the TTC is revising service so that southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers on Strathmore Boulevard beside the entrance to Coxwell Station. The change does not affect buses operating along the 322 Coxwell overnight route, which continue to operate through along Coxwell Avenue, although southbound buses serve a different southbound stop.
Starting today, Thursday, October 22, the TTC is closing the bus loop at Coxwell Station as contractors install a new elevator between the street and the subway platform. Contractors will also pave the bus loop roadway.
The station is fully open to passengers connecting with subway trains operating along the 2 Bloor - Danforth line, but you must board buses on Coxwell Avenue. All passengers leaving the station to board the buses must pick up a transfer from Coxwell Station. The TTC is installing a temporary bus shelter on the northeast corner of Coxwell and Danforth Avenues. Work Hours
Although crews will mostly work Mondays to Friday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., they may also work some weekend shifts.
Work continues until December 31, 2016.
While the bus loop is closed, the TTC will interline buses operating along these routes:
It’s also adjusting the schedules for both routes, and providing both more and less frequent service along the routes at various times of the week.
Update — Friday, May 6, 7:32 p.m.: The contractor is upgrading the electrical components in the station from Monday, May 8 until Wednesday, May 23 . These are required to operate the new elevators and other accessible features for the project.
To maintain operations during this work, crews will temporarily power the station with a generator. This type of generator performs with low-decibel noise levels — ideal for work in a residential area. The generator operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Update — Friday, August 12, 11:04 p.m.: The contractor is finishing the concrete wall and demolishing the floor for the elevator shaft by saw-cutting this weekend, Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14.
To maintain operations during this work, crews will use a generator to power the equipment. The generator operates with low-decibel levels, meaning it’s quieter than most generators.
However, you can still expect some noise and vibration.
Crews operate the generator from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
The TTC says it’s committed to making its services accessible to meet the needs of seniors and people with disabilities in Toronto. At Coxwell Station, not only is the TTC making the station fully accessible, it’s also generally improving it to keep it in a “state of good repair”.
When crews have finished working, Coxwell Station passengers will find a barrier-free path to all levels of the station including:
- Two elevators to access east- and westbound platforms;
- Two accessible fare gates;
- Three automatic sliding doors to enter or exit from the station;
- Better signage and wayfinding; and
- Closed-circuit television (CCTV) security cameras.
The TTC’s Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit (ACAT) reviewed and approved these changes.
“State of good repair” improvements include:
- Repaving the bus loop;
- Upgrading the station power supply;
- Enhancing lighting with new light standards in bus loop; and
- Replacing the fence on the west side of the property; and
- Designing new landscape features beside the bus loop.
22 Coxwell
The TTC is temporarily closing the bus terminal at Coxwell Station as it builds a new elevator. While the terminal is closed, it’s interlining at Danforth and Coxwell Avenues buses operating along the route with buses operating along the 70 O’Connor route. Southbound buses start their trips
at the regular stop on the west side of Coxwell, just north of Danforthon Strathmore Boulevard beside the entrance to Coxwell Station. They proceed:eastward along Strathmore Boulevard;
southward along Woodington Avenue; and then
westward along Danforth Avenue to Coxwell,
resuming their regular route southward along Coxwell.Southbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Coxwell Avenue north of Danforth Avenue.
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop
- on Coxwell Avenue south of Danforth Avenue.
Northbound buses end their trips at a temporary stop on the east side of Coxwell just north of Danforth.
By interlining both routes, the TTC also slightly decreases the frequency of service along the 22 Coxwell route.
Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:
- every 8½ minutes, instead of every 8 minutes, Mondays to Fridays during rush hours; and
- every 9 minutes, instead of every 8 minutes, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Buses also serve stops along the route:
- every 10 minutes, instead of every 9 minutes, Saturdays from about 8 a.m. until noon; and
- every 9 minutes, instead of every 7 minutes 45 seconds, from about noon until 7 p.m.
322 Coxwell overnight
Buses continue to operate along their regular route. Southbound buses skip their regular stop:
- on Coxwell Avenue north of Danforth Avenue.
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop
- on Coxwell Avenue south of Danforth Avenue.
Northbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Coxwell Avenue south of Danforth Avenue.
Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop
- on Coxwell Avenue north of Danforth Avenue.
70 O’Connor

- every 20 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
South of St. Clair East / O’Connor, buses serve stops
- every 10 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, Sundays and holidays from about 8 a.m. until noon;
- every 10 minutes, instead of every 12 minutes, from about 7 until 10 p.m.; and
- every 10 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
Buses also serve stops north and east of St. Clair / O’Connor:
- every 20 minutes, instead of every 22 minutes, Mondays to Fridays from about 7 until 10 p.m.; and
- every 20 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
South of St. Clair East / O’Connor, buses serve stops
- every 10 minutes, instead of every 11 minutes, Mondays to Fridays from about 7 until 10 p.m.; and
- every 10 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
They also serve stops north and east of St. Clair / O’Connor:
- every 20 minutes, instead of every 22 minutes, Saturdays before about 10 p.m.; and
- every 20 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
South of St. Clair East / O’Connor, buses serve stops
- every 10 minutes, instead of every 11 minutes, Saturdays before about 10 p.m.; and
- every 10 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
Transit agencies interline two or more routes with a common terminal to save resources — meaning the number of drivers to operate vehicles and the number of vehicles. For example, a southbound bus operating along the 70 O’Connor route ends its trip on Coxwell Avenue just north of Danforth Avenue on Strathmore Boulevard beside Coxwell Station. It then proceeds along the 22 Coxwell route, completes a round trip along that route and then returns to Coxwell and Danforth Avenues. It then proceeds northward along the 70 O’Connor route.
