We here at Transit Toronto have received a number of e-mails from readers wondering when the next generation of Toronto’s subway cars would appear in the city. The original contract called for a test train to arrive on TTC property late in 2009 and for revenue service to begin early in 2010. However, as the end of the year approached, we had little indication that the test train would be arriving before the year was out.

Until now.

The TTC’s director for corporate communications, Brad Ross, has recently twittered that the Commission expects a test train to arrive on TTC property next month, so the contract is still on schedule for revenue service to begin early in 2010.

TTC railfans will be looking for the arrival of the distinctive new cars, and should be out in force once news comes out that the cars are on TTC tracks.
