194507 - Lansdowne Streetcar

It's a traffic jam at the Dundas/Bathurst intersection, seen here looking southwest in July 1945. During this time, Dundas Street jogged north a short distance on Bathurst before continuing west. TTC Peter Witt car 2336 turns north in DUNDAS service while FORT Witt 2408 watches, and DUNDAS air-electric PCC 4223 and comrade wait their turn. The ex-Toronto Railway Company streetcar in the foreground is in LANSDOWNE service heading to the military base at the Exhibition Grounds. The photographer is unknown, but was originally published in the Toronto Telegram. This image comes courtesy the Raymond F. Corley and John F. Bromley collections.
