TTC closing streetcar tunnel at Spadina Station,
detouring cars, overnight, September 10 to 12



From 12:01 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 10 and continuing overnight nightly, the TTC is closing the tunnel that leads streetcars into and out of the terminal at Spadina Station, as crews inspect the tunnel conditions.

It’s also replacing streetcars with buses north of King Street West along these routes:

  • 310 Spadina overnight; and
  • 510 Spadina.

Passengers board or exit from buses at temporary stops beside the curb, instead of the regular centre-road “island” streetcar stops.

Streetcars continue to operate between King West and Union Station.

From 12:01 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12, south- and eastbound cars start their trips on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street, then proceed:

southward along Charlotte; and then
westward along King Street West to Spadina Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Spadina.

Southbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Spadina Station streetcar terminal,
  • on Spadina Avenue south of Sussex Avenue and Harbord Street, at Willcocks Street, south of College and Nassau Streets and Dundas Street West, at Sullivan Street and south of Queen Street West and
  • on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street.

Instead, southbound cars pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street.

Shuttle buses replace the cars north of King Street West.

Northbound cars operate along their regular route to Spadina Avenue and Adelaide Street West, then proceed:

eastward along Adelaide West; and then
southward along Charlotte Street to Oxley Street,
ending their trips.

Northbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Spadina Avenue at Richmond Street West, north of Queen Street West, Sullivan Street and Dundas Street West, across from Nassau Street, north of College Street, at Willcocks Street and north of Harbord Street and Sussex Avenue and
  • in Spadina Station streetcar terminal.

Instead, northbound cars drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street.

Shuttle buses replace the cars north of King Street West. Northbound streetcar passengers can connect with northbound buses on Spadina at King West.

From 12:01 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12, buses replace streetcars along the 310 Spadina overnight and 510 Spadina routes north of King Street West.

Southbound buses start their trips in the bus terminal at Spadina Station, then proceed:

southward along Spadina Road, Spadina Avenue, Spadina Crescent and Spadina Avenue;
eastward along Adelaide West; and then
southward along Charlotte Street to Oxley Street,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops beside the curb and not the centre-road “island” streetcar stops

  • in Spadina Station bus terminal,
  • on Spadina Avenue south of Sussex Avenue and Harbord Street, at Willcocks Street, south of College and Nassau Streets and Dundas Street West, at Sullivan Street and south of Queen Street West and
