Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Yonge Street in Newmarket between Davis Drive and Sawmill Valley Drive / Savage Road.

From 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 14 until 7 a.m. Thursday, August 15 and continuing overnight nightly, crews are milling and paving

  • on Yonge Street between Davis Drive and Savage Road / Sawmill Valley Drive.

The work zone restricts traffic on Yonge Street to just one lane in each direction.

“Paid-duty” York Regional Police officers and traffic-control personnel will be on-site to direct traffic.

Expect noise.

York Region Transit may temporarily relocate bus stops near work zones. Passengers aboard buses along these routes can also expect delays:

  • Viva blue;
  • Viva blue “A”;
  • 96 Keele - Yonge;
  • 98 Yonge;
  • 98/99 Yonge late-night;

Milling and paving on Yonge Street between Davis and Savage / Sawmill Valley and the resulting YRT delays continue overnight “for approximately one week” or until about 7 a.m. August 21.
