Metrolinx contractors continue building the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line between Mount Dennis and Kennedy.

Starting Friday, June 14, crews are setting up work zones that block parts of

  • the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West with Chaplin Crescent,

near the site of the future Chaplin Station to install a temporary traffic bridge. The traffic bridge allows for continuous construction under the roadway, while traffic travels safely over top. Once they have installed the bridge, they’ll shift the traffic lanes onto the bridge on the west side of Chaplin. Metrolinx and its contractors expect the bridge to remain in place with no further changes to the traffic-lane set-up until 2020.

While parts of the intersection are closed, crews are:

  • removing concrete;
  • building utility supports;
  • lifting the bridge into place; and
  • paving.

They’ll sequence the project so that they complete noisier activities from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m.

They work in two phases. They work overnight through both phases to reduce the duration of each closure.
