City of Toronto public meetings to review
transit responsibilities, June 13, 20, 22, 27

The Government of Ontario intends to upload components of Toronto’s transit system. It has introduced and passed Bill 107, the Getting Ontario Moving Act, that enables the province to own and fund expansion projects. Ontario has also indicated a longer-term plan to take responsibility for the current subway network, intending to introduce legislation to put that into effect in 2020.

City Council has affirmed that the City of Toronto must continue to own, operate and maintain the Toronto transit system. In February 2019, the City and Province signed a Terms of Reference to review realigning transit responsibilities.

The City wants to hear from you about the proposal. You can have your say during one of four public meetings this month.
