Metrolinx contractors continue building the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line between Mount Dennis and Kennedy.

“As early as” 10 p.m., Sunday, June 9, crews are re-configuring traffic lanes

  • at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West with W.R. Allen Road

to accommodate the next stage of construction at the site of the future Cedarvale Station. Crews mostly work overnight to reduce the impact to the travelling public and TTC operations.

The new traffic-lane set-up and the resulting TTC service delays continue “for approximately three (3) months” or until about September 1.

For transit passengers

  • Access to Eglinton West subway station is available at all times. You can only access the station from a temporary walkway on the east side of the southbound ramp from Allen Road.
  • If you’re accessing the station on foot from the east, you must use the south sidewalk, then cross Eglinton at a temporary crosswalk between Winnett Avenue and Everden Road.
  • Starting Monday, June 10, the exit from the bus terminal is east of its regular location, so that crews can install piles.
  • Since crews work in the bus terminal overnight, the TTC is detouring buses along the 363 Ossington overnight route until further notice.
  • Expect delays aboard TTC buses along these routes:
  • 32A / 32C / 32D Eglinton West;
  • 63 Ossington;
  • 109 Ranee;
  • 332 Eglinton West overnight; and
  • 363 Ossington overnight.

For pedestrians

  • The sidewalk on the north side of Eglinton West between the southbound ramp from Allen Road to west of Glenarden Road is closed.
  • The sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton across from Eglinton West Subway Station is closed. You must detour across Ben Nobleman Park and the east side of Everden Road to continue east and west along the south side of Eglinton.
  • The sidewalk on the east side of Everden south of Eglinton is closed.
  • You can only access Eglinton West Station along a temporary walkway from the walkway on the west side of the southbound ramp from Allen Road.
  • A temporary crosswalk on Eglinton between Winnett Avenue and Everden is available.
  • Another temporary pedestrian crosswalk is also available on Eglinton between west of Glenarden on the north side and between Flanders and Westover Hill Roads on the south side.

For motorists

  • Work zones block traffic lanes on the north side of Eglinton between the northbound ramp from Allen and west of Glenarden Road.
  • Just one lane is available for traffic in each direction on Eglinton between the southbound ramp from Allen Road and east of Flanders Road. However, turning lanes are available onto northbound Allen — eastbound west of Allen and westbound east of Allen.
  • Starting 10 p.m. Sunday, June 9, crews relocate the westbound access to northbound Allen further east.
  • Park Hill, Everden and Strathearn Roads remain closed at Eglinton Avenue.
  • A work zone blocks access to Everden Road south of Eglinton and to 20 parking spaces.
  • The City of Toronto continues to prohibit left turns from northbound Winnett onto westbound Eglinton.

For nearby residents and business people

  • Expect noise from a pile driver and crane, loaders, trucks and other construction equipment and dust as crews drill and remove debris.
  • Expect vibration from shoring activities.
