Eglinton Crosstown LRT - Ionview:
Street-light installation, starting June 3

Eglinton Crosstown header.jpg

Metrolinx contractors continue building the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line between Mount Dennis and Kennedy.

Crews continue building the LRT “guideway” — the transit-only lanes in the centre of the roadway, including tracks and passenger amenities

  • on Eglinton Avenue East between Ionview Road and Rosemount Drive,

near the site of the future Ionview stop.

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, June 3 and continuing daily, crews are

  • cutting and removing asphalt,
  • trenching and
  • installing street-light infrastructure

on the north side of this section of Eglinton East.

They’re working in stages to reduce disruption while they trench beside the roadway. Work zones may temporarily restrict traffic lanes and turns. “Paid-duty” Toronto Police Service officers and traffic-control personnel will direct motorists, cyclists and pedestrians near work zones.

Street-lighting infrastructure work near the future Ionview stop and the resulting TTC delays continue “for approximately two (2) weeks” or until about June 16.

For transit passengers

  • Expect delays aboard buses along these routes:
  • 34 Eglinton East;
  • 334 Eglinton East overnight.

For pedestrians

  • Sidewalks and crosswalks remain open.

For motorists

  • At least one lane will be available for traffic in each direction on Eglinton East at all times.

For nearby residents and business people

  • Expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment.
