Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Yonge Street in Richmond Hill between 19th Avenue / Gamble Road and Highway 7.


From 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28 until 7 a.m. Wednesday, May 29 and continuing overnight nightly, crews resume installing water-main infrastructure

  • on Yonge Street, west side, between just north of Carrville Road to just north of Edgar Avenue,

as part of the project.

Crews are setting up temporary work zones, blocking traffic lanes overnight. “Paid-duty” York Regional Police officers and traffic control staff will be on-site to guide pedestrians and motorists during this phase of the project. Crews work overnight Sundays until Fridays.

Expect noise, vibration and dust from equipment and trucks.

GO Transit may temporarily relocate bus stops near work zones. Passengers aboard buses along this route can expect delays:

  • 61 Richmond Hill / Toronto.

York Region Transit may temporarily relocate bus stops near work zones. Passengers aboard buses along these routes can expect delays:

  • Viva blue;
  • 86 Newkirk - Red Maple;
  • 98 / 99 Yonge late-night; and
  • 99 Yonge.

Water-main installation between Carrville and Edgar and the GO and YRT service changes continue “for approximately 4 weeks” or until about June 24.
