Scarborough subway extension:
Gas-line relocation, starting January 7

Scarborough subway identifier.png

The City of Toronto and the TTC have started a project to extend the Line 2 Bloor - Danforth subway to Scarborough Centre.

Starting Monday, January 7, Enbridge crews are relocating gas lines near

  • the intersection of Danforth Road with Eglinton Avenue East

to prepare for the project. These pipelines are integral to Enbridge’s gas system, so it must reroute them to make sure it can continue to deliver natural gas safely and reliably while construction proceeds.

Crews work Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. They may temporarily block traffic lanes. Gas-line relocation near Danforth Road / Eglinton East and the resulting TTC delays continue until February 28.

  • If the crews must temporarily block a walkway, they’ll posts signs with a detour route around the work zone.

For motorists:

  • Expect delays as crews may temporarily block traffic lanes on both Danforth Road and Eglinton Avenue East.
  • Access to driveways remains available at all times.
