Less frequent Lakeshore East GO trains,
Buses east of Whitby, December 7, 8 and 9

Metrolinx says it’s working on “critical upgrades to our network”, requiring GO Transit to significantly revise train service along the 09 Lakeshore East line this weekend and other weekends this fall.

Here’s what’s happening this weekend:

Friday, December 7

Hourly evening service starting with the eastbound train that leaves Union Station at 6:13 p.m. and the westbound train that leaves Oshawa GO Station at 7:38 p.m.

GO is cancelling the eastbound trains that usually leave Union at 43 minutes after the hour and the westbound trains that usually leave Oshawa at eight minutes past the hour.

Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9

Trains operate hourly both days. Eastbound trains leave Union at 13 minutes past the hour. They end their trips in Whitby at one minute past the hour. Westbound trains leave Whitby at 47 minutes past the hour. They end their trips in Union at 40 minutes past the hour.

Shuttle buses operate between Whitby and Oshawa GO stations.

GO is cancelling the trains that usually leave Union at 43 minutes past the hour and Oshawa at 11 minutes past the hour.

GO has already operated with less frequent service nine previous weekends this fall:

GO is similarly revising service or decreasing the frequency of service along the line one more weekend this year:

  • Friday, December 14, Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16.
