TTC reorganizing streetcar stops, May 13

The TTC is moving streetcar stops to new locations, closing stops and opening new stops as it tries to improve streetcar service and the safety of its passengers.

Generally, it’s moving (or removing) stops at intersections without signals or pedestrian crosswalks, so that passengers don’t dangerously cross busy streets at unprotected locations to board the cars (or buses).

The new stops also eliminate areas where multiple stops delayed service in a short distance, thereby preparing for the TTC to introduce the longer Toronto Flexity cars along all routes.

By reorganizing the stops, it’s affecting service along these streetcar routes (including routes where buses are temporarily operating):

  • 301 Queen overnight;
  • 304 King overnight;
  • 306 Carlton overnight;
  • 501 Queen;
  • 502 Downtowner;
  • 503 Kingston Rd;
  • 504 King;
  • 505 Dundas;
  • 506 Carlton;
  • 514 Cherry.

It also affects stops along bus routes, where buses share stops with streetcars:

  • 22 Coxwell;
  • 143 Downtown / Beach express;
  • 322 Coxwell overnight;
  • 402 Parkdale community bus; and
  • 404 East York community bus.

Service to the new stops starts Sunday, May 13.
