TTC repairing tracks at Dundas East / River,
starting April 23

Update, Tuesday, April 17, 9:17 p.m.: The TTC has postponed the project until April 23.

Starting Wednesday, April 18 Monday, April 23, TTC crews are repairing the concrete beside and between the streetcar tracks on Dundas Street East east of River Street to maintain them in a state of good repair.

Since the TTC is temporarily operating buses, instead of streetcars, along the 505 Dundas route, the project doesn’t require it to detour transit vehicles. However, passengers should expect delays.

The City of Toronto is prohibiting on-street parking to allow the crew to create a safe work zone, while they occupy the track area. The work zones restrict traffic to just one lane in each direction.

The crews mostly work from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day, but may also work overnight to maintain the construction timeline and reduce disrupting the public, especially when they pour concrete.

By 7 a.m. April 18 23, the crews establish the work zone to block traffic from the centre lanes of the street. Inside the work zone, they’ll mill and break old concrete and place new concrete. Motorists can only travel along the curb lanes for one day after the crews have placed the new concrete to allow it to cure.

Track repairs on Dundas Street East east of River Street continue until April 20 25.
