March-break transit breaks for kids and families,
March 11 to 19

Transit systems in Niagara Falls, Peterborough, St. Catharines and Toronto are making it easier for kids and their families to get around, while they’re enjoying their break from school next week.

Niagara Falls

Elementary- and secondary-school students can ride Niagara Falls Transit buses and WEGO buses serving the Red route for just 50 cents next week, starting Saturday, March 11 and continuing until Sunday, March 19.

Each March, Peterborough Transit gives all grade 8 students in Peterborough a March Break transit pass.

The goal is to prepare grade-eighters for high school and independent travel by teaching them how to ride Peterborough Transit to explore the city.

Grade 8 Transit Quest starts Friday, March 10 and ends Monday, March 27.

St. Catharines

The St. Catharines Transit Commission is offering its Family Pass every day of the week for March break.

From Monday, March 13 until Friday, March 17, you can buy the All-Day Family Bus Pass for just $7 and go anywhere the SCTC buses go in St. Catharines and Thorold. As many as two adults and three children can all travel together for this once-a-day fare of $7. Just ask the bus driver for your pass, when you board the first bus.

(The pass is always available weekends, so you can also buy and use a pass Saturdays, March 11 and March 18 and Sundays, March 12 and March 19.)

In Toronto, you can buy Day Family / Group Passes every day of the March break to travel with a group anywhere that the TTC can take you — within the city of Toronto — for just $12.50.

The TTC March Break Day Pass is available from Saturday, March 11 until Sunday, March 19.

Group/Family Day Passes are valid from the date on the pass until 5:30 a.m. the next day and are ideal for:

  • one adult and not more than five teens, 13 to 19 years of age; or
  • two adults and not more than four teens; or
  • two adults.

Kids 12 years and younger always ride free of fare on the TTC.

If you plan to use the pass to ride on a TTC bus operating beyond the Toronto city limits — or on an express route that requires an extra fare — you’ll have to add more money into the farebox when you use the Day / Family Pass.

You can find out more about the TTC’s regular Day Family / Group Pass here.
