York University Station construction:
Concrete pour, September 19, 20

TTC contractors continue to work on the project to extend the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina subway northwest beyond Downsview to York University and Vaughan.

The contractors have scheduled a large concrete pour for the roof of York University Station starting 3 a.m. Saturday, September 19 and continuing non-stop until noon Sunday, September 20.

TTC, GO Transit and York University will temporarily further detour buses, which will exit the campus along Ian Macdonald Boulevard, since the work blocks part of York Boulevard. Flag personnel will help direct transit, pedestrian, and construction traffic. “Paid-duty” Toronto Police Service officers will help direct pedestrian and traffic flow on The Pond Road and Ian Macdonald Boulevard Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Detours affect buses operating along these routes:

GO Transit
  • 25 Waterloo / Mississauga;
  • 47 Hamilton / York U;
  • 52 Oshawa / York U.
Toronto Transit Commission
  • 41 Keele;

  • 107 Keele North;

  • 341 Keele overnight; and
  • 353 Steeles overnight.

Ian Macdonald Boulevard south of Vanier Lane remains closed to vehicular traffic. The pedestrian path remain open along this section of Ian Macdonald and flag personnel will direct pedestrians.

Due to the temporary bus diversion, expect more traffic congestion and transit delays on The Pond Road, Ian Macdonald Boulevard, Sentinel Road and Keele Street.

York University is advising its community to find alternatives to The Pond Road this weekend:

  • You can’t turn left in either direction on The Pond Road from Ian Macdonald Boulevard, Atkinson Road and Seneca Lane during the detour. If possible, non-transit vehicles should avoid The Pond Road. Student Service Parking Garage patrons are asked to use York Boulevard and James Gillies Street when accessing the campus.
  • Ian Macdonald Boulevard is restricted to transit, emergency and accessible vehicles only. Use James Gillies Street to access the Welcome Centre and The Schulich School of Business.
  • You can’t access Fine Arts Road from Ian Macdonald Boulevard.
