No subway service, Kipling to Jane,
August 22, 23

The TTC is closing the 2 Bloor - Danforth subway line west of Jane Station this weekend, Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23.

All trains along the line operate between Jane and Kennedy Stations only.

Frequent buses replace subway trains between Kipling and Jane Stations. The TTC says the buses “stop at all stations” between Kipling and Jane — likely in the bus terminals at Islington and Royal York Stations and on Bloor Street West near Old Mill Station.

While this section of the line is closed, crews work inside the tunnel and in open-cut sections:

  • replacing rail and track components just east of Kipling Station, near the Kipling Avenue bridge, to allow trains to shift from one track to another;
  • maintaining the grounds between Kipling and just east of Islington Station during the daytime;
  • replacing rail in Old Mill Station; and
  • replacing a track switch just east of Islington Station (in the subway tunnel).

This week, track crews are working overnight inside the tunnel just east of Islington Station and at Old Mill Station to prepare for this weekend’s work. This head start to the work will help them finish the track work before regular service resumes Monday, August 24.

Crews work “around-the-clock”. They start early Saturday morning shortly after Friday subway service ends by delivering materials to the various work sites by subway flat car. Expect noise when equipment is fully operating.
