TTC revises routes and services, June 22

Nova artic - 29 Dufferin.jpg

Although this week marks the formal start of articulated-bus service along the 29 Dufferin route, the TTC has experimented with a few of the new buses along the route since March 10, 2014. One day later, Amy Rose captured this shot of NovaBUS LFS articulated bus #9016 resting on Dufferin Street. This photo is used with permission.

The TTC starts summer service this Sunday, June 22. That means extra service to parks, beaches and attractions for some routes, but, perhaps more important for most riders, less frequent rush-hour service along many routes for the summer.

The TTC is also introducing its new Novabus LFS 18-metre (60-foot) articulated (“bendy”) vehicles Mondays to Fridays along the 29 Dufferin route. Since the new buses are larger than standard buses, they carry more passengers, so the TTC is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route when the artics are operating.

Saturday, June 21 marks the end of an era, when the last TTC bus carrying the “Davisville” route name goes out of service after almost 80 years. The TTC first operated buses along the route November 19, 1934.
