March break transit breaks
for kids and families, March 8 to 16

Transit systems in Oakville, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines and Toronto are making it easier for kids to get around, while they’re enjoying their break from school next week.

Again this year, kids in Oakville can use their Freedom Passes when boarding Oakville Transit buses all day Mondays to Fridays during the break.

The passes usually let full-time elementary- and secondary-school students between the ages of 6 and 19 to travel on any Oakville Transit bus after 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and all day weekends and holidays. Next week, you can use your Freedom Pass all day and all week. (You can buy a Freedom Pass for just $15 a month.)

You can find out more about Oakville Transit Freedom Passes here.

Niagara Falls

High school students can ride Niagara Falls Transit buses for just 50 cents next week, starting tomorrow, Saturday, March 8 and continuing until Sunday, March 16.

St. Catharines

The St. Catharines Transit Commission is offering its Family Pass every day of the week for March break. From Monday, March 10 until Friday, March 14, you can buy the All-Day Family Bus Pass for just $7 and go anywhere the SCTC buses go in St. Catharines and Thorold. As many as two adults and three children can all travel together for this once-a-day fare of $7. Just ask the bus driver for your pass, when you board the first bus.

In Toronto, you can buy Day Family / Group Passes every day of the March break to travel with a group anywhere that the TTC can take you — within the city of Toronto — for just $11.

You can use each pass for one day only for a group of as many as six people — two adults with no more than four children or teens younger than 19. (Or… one adult with no more than five children or teens younger than 19.)

You can use the Family / Group Pass any day from Monday, March 10 until Friday, March 14. Day / Family Passes are also available on Saturdays, March 8 and 15 and Sundays, March 9 and 16, as they usually are Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year.

If you plan to use the pass to ride on a TTC bus operating beyond the Toronto city limits — or on an express route that requires an extra fare — you’ll have to add more money into the farebox when you use the Day / Family Pass.

You can find out more about the TTC’s regular Day Family / Group Pass here.
