Kingston Road track replacement project:
TTC revises detour routing, December 9

The TTC has been upgrading the streetcar tracks on Kingston Road and the City of Toronto has been upgrading the roadway since Monday, June 3. Buses have replaced the cars that day and, since work on the project has prevented traffic from proceeding westward along Kingston Road since Sunday, June 23, the TTC has detoured westbound buses.

Crews are getting ready to finalize the project and the City can now restore two-way traffic along Kingston Road. The TTC is also revising the detour routing for buses operating along the 22A Coxwell via Kingston Rd and the 322 Coxwell overnight via Kingston Rd routes, starting tomorrow, Monday, December 9.

Regular streetcar service between Bingham Loop (Victoria Park Avenue) and downtown Toronto along the 502 Downtowner and 503 Kingston Rd tripper routes resumes at 5 a.m. Monday, December 23.

22A Coxwell via Kingston Rd

Starting at 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 9, buses operate along their regular route between Coxwell Station and Bingham Loop seven days a week and 18 hours a day.

Buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops on Kingston Road at Victoria Park and Blantyre Avenues, southbound on Blantyre Avenue between Kingston and Queen Street East or westbound on Queen Street East between Blantyre Avenue and Kingston Road / Eastern Avenue.

Buses serve the 22A branch at all times of the week, instead of operating only along the 22 branch of the route between Coxwell Station and Queen East Mondays to Fridays before 7 p.m.

322 Coxwell overnight via Kingston Rd

Starting at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, buses operate along their regular route between Broadview Station and Bingham Loop seven days a week from about 1:30 until 5 a.m.

Buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops in Neville Park Loop or both ways on Queen Street East between Neville Park Boulevard and Kingston Road / Eastern Avenue.

Buses again interline at Bingham Loop with buses operating along the 324 Victoria Park overnight route.

Transit agencies often save resources — meaning the number of vehicles to provide service and the number of operators to drive those vehicles — by interlining two or more routes with a common terminal. In this case, an eastbound bus that had just operated along the 322 Coxwell overnight via Kingston Rd route leaves Bingham Loop and then operates along the 324 Victoria Park overnight route. It completes a round trip along the 324 route, before returning to Bingham and then proceeding westbound along the 322 route.
