GO revises routes and services, September 1



Now that summer activities are ending and commuters are returning to workplaces, universities and colleges, GO Transit is revising its routes and services, starting today, Saturday, September 1.

80 Beaverton / Pefferlaw

Saturday, September 1 is the last day that GO operates buses along its 69 Sutton / Newmarket route.

Starting Sunday, September 2, York Region Transit extends and increases service along its 50 Queensway route between Pefferlaw and Newmarket.

GO continues to serve the eastern end of the former 69 Sutton / Newmarket route by operating buses along this new route.

Westbound buses leave Simcoe Street across from Mara Road in Beaverton at 5:23, 6:51 and 9:37 a.m. and 12:30, 2:27, 5:48, 7:47, 8:41 and 11:12 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive on Pefferlaw Road at Station Street in Pefferlaw at 5:43, 7:11 and 9:57 a.m. and 12:50, 2:47, 6:08, 8:07, 9:01 and 11:32 p.m.

They also leave Beaverton at 7:31 a.m. and 3:20 and 11:18 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. They arrive in Pefferlaw at 7:51 a.m. and 3:40 and 11:38 p.m.

Eastbound buses leave Pefferlaw at 5:48, 7:16 and 10:02 a.m. and 12:55, 2:52, 6:13, 8:12, 9:06 and 11:52 p.m. They arrive in Beaverton at 6:03, 7:31 and 10:17 a.m. and 1:10, 3:07, 6:28, 8:27 and 9:21 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and 12:07 a.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays.

They also leave Pefferlaw at 7:56 a.m. and 3:45 and 11:52 p.m. They arrive in Beaverton at 8:11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and 12:07 a.m. Sundays, Mondays and days following statutory holidays.

67 Keswick / North York

Starting Tuesday, September 7, GO starts operating buses in both directions along this new route, linking the Glenwoods “Park ‘n’ Ride” carpool lot in Keswick with Finch GO Bus Terminal.

Southbound buses leave the carpool lot, then proceed:

southward along Woodbine Avenue;
westward along Green Lane;
southward along Highway 404;
westward along Highway 401;
northward along Yonge Street; and then
eastward into Finch GO Bus Terminal,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses reverse the routing.

Southbound buses leave Keswick at 5:40, 6:05, 6:30, 6:50 and 7:20 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive in North York at 6:40, 7:10, 7:40, 8:10 and 8:40 a.m.

Northbound buses leave North York at 12:08, 3:08, 4:08, 4:38, 5:08, 5:38, 6:08 and 6:38 p.m. They arrive in Keswick at 1:13, 4:18, 5:28, 6:03, 6:33, 6:58, 7:23 and 8:13 p.m.

You can ride the buses free of fare until Friday, September 7.

Service along the new route partially replaces GO’s current 69 Sutton / Newmarket route.

Canceling a current route


69 Sutton / Newmarket

Saturday, September 1 is the last day that GO operates buses along this route.

Starting Sunday, September 2, York Region Transit extends and increases service along the 50 Queensway route to replace most of the service along the former GO route.

GO continues to serve the extreme east end of the 69 Sutton / Newmarket route, by operating buses along the new 81 Beaverton / Pefferlaw route seven days a week.

It’s also introducing service along the new 65F branch of the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route and introducing the new 67 Keswick / North York route to further replace the current service along the 69 Beaverton / Newmarket route.


Introducing new branches of current routes


36 Brampton / North York express

36B branch

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO introduces this new branch of the route. Buses serve local stops between Bramalea Terminal and Bramalea GO Station, then operate express - without stopping — to Yorkdale and York Mills GO Bus Terminals. These buses no longer serve local stops along Steeles and Finch Avenues between Bramalea GO Station and Highway 427.

Eastbound buses leave Bramalea Terminal at 6:30, 7, 7:30, 8 and 8:30 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive in Yorkdale at 7:05, 7:45, 8:15, 8:45 and 9:10 a.m. They end their trips in York Mills at 7:10, 7:55, 8:25, 8:55 and 9:20 a.m.

Westbound buses leave York Mills at 4, 4:30, 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. They arrive in Yorkdale at 4:12, 4:42, 5:12, 5:42 and 6:12 p.m. They end their trips in Bramalea Terminal at 4:55, 5:30, 6, 6:25 and 6:55 p.m.

GO is also increasing service along the route and adjusting the schedule of the route.

65 Newmarket / Toronto bus

65F branch

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO introduces service along the new 65F Monday-to-Friday branch of the route. Buses operate express - without stopping - between East Gwillimbury GO Station and Union Station GO Bus Terminal.

Service along the new branch partially replaces GO’s current 69 Sutton / Newmarket route.

Northbound buses operating along the new branch drop off passengers at a new bus stop on Green Lane west of Leslie Street in East Gwillimbury. This stop also serves as a transfer point for passengers connecting with York Region Transit buses operating along the 50 Queensway route.

GO is also increasing service along the route and adjusting the schedule of the route.

71 Stouffville / Toronto bus

71H branch

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO operates a southbound bus along this new branch of the route. The bus leaves Centennial GO Station at 8:40 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, then operates express - without stopping - until Union Station, ending its trip at 9:30 a.m.

The bus replaces the current bus that operates along the 71F branch, leaving Centennial at 8:40 a.m., but stopping at Unionville GO Station at 8:55 a.m. The bus then operates express to Union, arriving at 9:40 a.m.

71J branch

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO operates a bus along this new branch of the route. The bus connects with the northbound train that arrives in Unionville GO Station at 3:55 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It leaves Unionville at 3:58 p.m. and serves all stops until Mount Joy GO Station. It arrives in Mount Joy at 4:18 p.m.

The new bus replaces the current northbound bus that operates along the 71F branch, leaving Union at 3:10 p.m. and ending its trip in Centennial GO Station at 4 p.m.

71K branch

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO operates a bus along this new branch of the route. The bus connects with the northbound train that arrives in Unionville GO Station at 3:55 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It leaves Unionville at 4:03 p.m. and serves all stops until it reaches Railway Street across from Spruce Street in Uxbridge. It arrives in Uxbridge at 5:05 p.m.

The new bus replaces the current northbound bus that operates along the 71A branch, leaving Union at 3:15 p.m. and ending its trip in Uxbridge at 4:50 p.m.

GO is also increasing and decreasing service along the route.

25E branch

Friday, September 7 only, GO introduces service along this new branch of the route, with just two eastbound buses operating express between the Charles Street Terminal in downtown Kitchener and Mississauga.

The buses leave Charles Street at 2:25 and 5:25 p.m. They arrive in Square One terminal at 3:25 and 6:30 p.m.

GO resumes these Friday-only trips, Fridays, December 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2012 and Friday, January 4, 2013.

33D branch

Friday, August 31 is the last day that GO operates the single westbound bus that serves this branch of the route.

Currently, the bus leaves York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 12:45 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and ends its trip in the Downtown Brampton Terminal at 12:25 p.m.

Instead, GO operates the bus along the 33 branch, extending the trip to the University Centre Terminal on the University of Guelph campus. The bus arrives on campus at 3:15 p.m.

GO is also increasing and decreasing service along the route, adjusting the schedule of the route and making other changes to service along the route.

The extra eastbound bus leaves the University Centre Terminal on the campus of the University of Guelph at 12:45 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. The bus arrives in York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 3:15 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO resumes operating buses on some Monday-to-Friday trips in both directions along this branch of the route. Starting Thursday, September 5, GO resumes operating buses on all Monday-to-Friday trips.

Starting Saturday, September 1, GO operates buses on 16 new trips along this branch of the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The buses serve all stops between the Hamilton GO Centre and York University and then continuing to Yorkdale GO Bus Terminal. By operating more weekend and holiday trips along the route, GO increases the frequency of service to about every 30 minutes.

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO operates two more eastbound express buses along this branch of the route. (It canceled these two trips in May, when fewer passengers were traveling into Toronto to colleges and universities.)

Also starting Tuesday, September 4, GO operates a new northbound train Monday-to-Friday afternoons. The train leaves Union Station at 3:18 p.m., serves all stations along the line until Unionville GO Station, ending its trip at 3:55 p.m.

GO is revising bus service along the 71 Stouffville / Toronto route so that buses meet the train at Unionville GO Station to carry passengers further northeastward along the line.

It’s also canceling some afternoon bus service from Union Station GO Bus Terminal, since passengers can now ride a train to stations along the line.

Buses serving that branch drop off or pick up passengers at local stops between Bramalea Terminal and Bramalea GO Station, then operate express - without stopping — to Yorkdale and York Mills GO Bus Terminals. The buses that currently leave Bramalea Terminal at 6:30, 7, 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. Mondays to Fridays operate along the new branch, instead of the main 36 branch. The buses that currently leave York Mills at 4, 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. operate along the new branch, instead of the main 36 branch.

As a result, GO decreases Monday-to-Friday rush-hour service to local stops along Steeles and Finch Avenues between Bramalea GO Station and Highway 427. Buses operating along all branches of the 35 Brampton / Humber College / North York route and the main branch of the 36 Brampton / North York express route continue to serve these stops.

Starting Saturday, September 1, most eastbound buses leave the William G. Davis Computer Sciences Centre on the University of Waterloo Campus five minutes earlier than currently. They arrive at Wilfrid Laurier University four to five minutes earlier, but still arrive in Square One GO Bus Terminal at the same time as they do currently.

The eastbound buses that formerly left the Davis Centre at 12:40 and 1:40 p.m. Saturdays leave ten minutes earlier at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. They serve all stops along the route five to ten minutes earlier than formerly.

If you’re traveling to and from the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus, you can now ride free of fare on buses operating along the TTC’s 38 Highland Creek route between Rouge Hill GO and the campus. You must show a valid GO fare when you board the TTC bus. The pilot program is only in effect along this TTC route and only when boarding on campus or at the GO Station.

GO is also increasing service along the route.

Starting Sunday, September 2, York Region Transit extends and increases service along its 50 Queensway route between Pefferlaw and Newmarket.

GO continues to serve the eastern end of the former 69 Sutton / Newmarket route by operating buses along this new route.

Westbound buses leave Simcoe Street across from Mara Road in Beaverton at 5:23, 6:51 and 9:37 a.m. and 12:30, 2:27, 5:48, 7:47, 8:41 and 11:12 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive on Pefferlaw Road at Station Street in Pefferlaw at 5:43, 7:11 and 9:57 a.m. and 12:50, 2:47, 6:08, 8:07, 9:01 and 11:32 p.m.

They also leave Beaverton at 7:31 a.m. and 3:20 and 11:18 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. They arrive in Pefferlaw at 7:51 a.m. and 3:40 and 11:38 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, September 7, GO starts operating buses in both directions along this new route, linking the Glenwoods “Park ‘n’ Ride” carpool lot in Keswick with Finch GO Bus Terminal.

Southbound buses leave the carpool lot, then proceed:

southward along Woodbine Avenue;
westward along Green Lane;
southward along Highway 404;
westward along Highway 401;
northward along Yonge Street; and then
eastward into Finch GO Bus Terminal,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses reverse the routing.

Southbound buses leave Keswick at 5:40, 6:05, 6:30, 6:50 and 7:20 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive in North York at 6:40, 7:10, 7:40, 8:10 and 8:40 a.m.

Northbound buses leave North York at 12:08, 3:08, 4:08, 4:38, 5:08, 5:38, 6:08 and 6:38 p.m. They arrive in Keswick at 1:13, 4:18, 5:28, 6:03, 6:33, 6:58, 7:23 and 8:13 p.m.

Saturday, September 1 is the last day that GO operates buses along this route.

Starting Sunday, September 2, York Region Transit extends and increases service along the 50 Queensway route to replace most of the service along the former GO route.

GO continues to serve the extreme east end of the 69 Sutton / Newmarket route, by operating buses along the new 81 Beaverton / Pefferlaw route seven days a week.

It’s also introducing service along the new 65F branch of the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route and introducing the new 67 Keswick / North York route to further replace the current service along the 69 Beaverton / Newmarket route.

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO introduces this new branch of the route. Buses serve local stops between Bramalea Terminal and Bramalea GO Station, then operate express - without stopping — to Yorkdale and York Mills GO Bus Terminals. These buses no longer serve local stops along Steeles and Finch Avenues between Bramalea GO Station and Highway 427.

Eastbound buses leave Bramalea Terminal at 6:30, 7, 7:30, 8 and 8:30 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. They arrive in Yorkdale at 7:05, 7:45, 8:15, 8:45 and 9:10 a.m. They end their trips in York Mills at 7:10, 7:55, 8:25, 8:55 and 9:20 a.m.

Westbound buses leave York Mills at 4, 4:30, 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. They arrive in Yorkdale at 4:12, 4:42, 5:12, 5:42 and 6:12 p.m. They end their trips in Bramalea Terminal at 4:55, 5:30, 6, 6:25 and 6:55 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO introduces service along the new 65F Monday-to-Friday branch of the route. Buses operate express - without stopping - between East Gwillimbury GO Station and Union Station GO Bus Terminal.

Service along the new branch partially replaces GO’s current 69 Sutton / Newmarket route.

Northbound buses operating along the new branch drop off passengers at a new bus stop on Green Lane west of Leslie Street in East Gwillimbury. This stop also serves as a transfer point for passengers connecting with York Region Transit buses operating along the 50 Queensway route.

GO is also increasing service along the route and adjusting the schedule of the route.

71H branch

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO operates a southbound bus along this new branch of the route. The bus leaves Centennial GO Station at 8:40 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, then operates express - without stopping - until Union Station, ending its trip at 9:30 a.m.

The bus replaces the current bus that operates along the 71F branch, leaving Centennial at 8:40 a.m., but stopping at Unionville GO Station at 8:55 a.m. The bus then operates express to Union, arriving at 9:40 a.m.

71J branch

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO operates a bus along this new branch of the route. The bus connects with the northbound train that arrives in Unionville GO Station at 3:55 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It leaves Unionville at 3:58 p.m. and serves all stops until Mount Joy GO Station. It arrives in Mount Joy at 4:18 p.m.

The new bus replaces the current northbound bus that operates along the 71F branch, leaving Union at 3:10 p.m. and ending its trip in Centennial GO Station at 4 p.m.

71K branch

Starting Tuesday, September 4, GO operates a bus along this new branch of the route. The bus connects with the northbound train that arrives in Unionville GO Station at 3:55 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It leaves Unionville at 4:03 p.m. and serves all stops until it reaches Railway Street across from Spruce Street in Uxbridge. It arrives in Uxbridge at 5:05 p.m.

The new bus replaces the current northbound bus that operates along the 71A branch, leaving Union at 3:15 p.m. and ending its trip in Uxbridge at 4:50 p.m.

GO is also increasing and decreasing service along the route.

Friday, September 7 only, GO introduces service along this new branch of the route, with just two eastbound buses operating express between the Charles Street Terminal in downtown Kitchener and Mississauga.

Starting Tuesday, September 4, the eastbound bus that currently leaves Oakville GO Station bus terminal at 7:05 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves five minutes later at 7:10 a.m. The bus serves all stops along the route five minutes later than currently and arrives in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 8:40 a.m.

GO is also increasing service along the route.

Starting Saturday, September 1, eastbound buses leave the William G. Davis Computer Sciences Centre on the University of Waterloo Campus five minutes earlier than currently. They serve all stops west of the Milton “Park ‘n’ Ride” carpool lot four to five minutes earlier, but still arrive in Square One GO Bus Terminal at the same time as they do currently.

They serve all stops west of the Milton “Park ‘n’ Ride” carpool lot four to five minutes earlier, but still arrive in Milton GO Station bus terminal at the same time as they do currently.

Starting Saturday, September 1, most eastbound buses leave the William G. Davis Computer Sciences Centre on the University of Waterloo Campus five minutes earlier than currently. They arrive at Wilfrid Laurier University four to five minutes earlier, but still arrive in Square One GO Bus Terminal at the same time as they do currently.

The eastbound buses that formerly left the Davis Centre at 12:40 and 1:40 p.m. Saturdays leave ten minutes earlier at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. They serve all stops along the route five to ten minutes earlier than formerly.

33 Guelph / Georgetown / North York

Starting Saturday, September 1, some buses will only stop at Guelph Central GO Station and the University Centre Terminal on the University of Guelph campus, if passengers ask the driver to stop there.

A “D” on the schedules marks which trips have “request-only” stops in Guelph.

GO is also canceling a branch of the route, increasing service along the route and adjusting the schedule of the route.

Starting Saturday, September 1, some buses will only stop at Bramalea GO Station, if passengers ask the driver to stop there.

09 Lakeshore East

If you’re traveling to and from the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus, you can now ride free of fare on buses operating along the TTC’s 38 Highland Creek route between Rouge Hill GO and the campus. You must show a valid GO fare when you board the TTC bus. The pilot program is only in effect along this TTC route and only when boarding on campus or at the GO Station.

GO is also increasing service along the route.
