Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, September 4, the City of Toronto and the TTC will begin a project to reconstruct the streetcar right-of-way along Fleet Street. The project also includes later phase to reconstruct the tracks in the Exhibition (East) Loop.

The TTC will divert transit service during the project.

Eastbound buses operating on the 310 Bathurst overnight route will begin their route at Exhibition Loop, then proceed southward along Strachan Avenue, eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard West and then northward along Bathurst Street, resuming their regular route at Bathurst and Fleet Streets. Westbound buses will reverse this routing.

Southbound streetcars operating on the 511 Bathurst daytime route will follow their regular route to Bathurst and Fleet Streets, then continue southwards along Bathurst, eastwards along Queens Quay West and northwards through the Bay Street Tunnel to Union Station. Northbound cars reverse this routing. The diverted 511 Bathurst cars replace the 509 Harbourfront streetcar service east of Lower Spadina Avenue. Diverted 509 Harbourfront buses replace the 511 Bathurst streetcar service along Fleet Street.

Buses will replace streetcars on the 509 Harbourfront route. Eastbound buses will begin their route at the Exhibition Loop then proceed southward along Strachan Avenue, eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard West, southward along Bathurst Street, eastward along Queens Quay West and then northward into the Queens Quay / Spadina Loop. Westbound buses will leave the loop southward along Lower Spadina Avenue, then reverse the eastbound looping from Spadina and Queens Quay. The diverted 509 Harbourfront buses replace the 511 Bathurst streetcar service along Fleet Street. The diverted 511 Bathurst and regular 510 Spadina cars replace the 509 Harbourfront streetcar service along Queens Quay, east of Spadina Avenue.

The TTC may have to make minor changes to these routings as the project progresses. It may also divert buses operating on the 316 Ossington (overnight) route, when construction begins at Fleet and Strachan Avenue.

The project will likely continue until mid-December.
