Mississauga service changes start September 4



Mississauga Transit will revise routes and services, starting Tuesday, September 4.

It will: introduce new routes, extend current routes, shorten current routes, revise current routes, increase service hours, decrease service hours, re-instate services to high schools, cancel current routes, increase frequency of current routes, adjust schedules.

Introduce new routes

76 Square One-Subway: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will introduce this new route, operating during Monday-to-Friday peak periods only between Square One and Islington Station. The new route will replace the current 206 Burnhamthorpe Express route and supplement the current 26 Burnhamthorpe route. Eastbound buses will operate from the Mississauga City Centre Terminal at Square One eastbound along Rathburn Road, southbound along City Centre Drive, east- and southbound along Robert Speck Parkway, eastbound along Burnhamthorpe Road, southbound along Highway 427, east- and northbound along Dundas Street West, southbound along Islington Avenue and westbound along Bloor Street West and into Islington Station. Westbound buses operate westbound along Bloor to Dundas, and reverse the eastbound routing.

110 University: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will introduce this new limited-stop route, operating daily between the Mississauga City Centre Terminal at Square One and Clarkson GO Station. The route will replace the current 24 University route and part of the current 48 Erin Mills route. Southbound buses operate from the Terminal eastward along Rathburn Road, northward along Hurontario Street, westward along Highway 403, southward along Erin Mills Parkway, westward along Burnhamthorpe Road, south along South Millway, through South Common Centre Terminal and then continuing southward along South Millway, eastward along The Collegeway, northward along Mississauga Road, through the University of Toronto (Mississauga), southward along Mississauga Road, westward along Dundas Street West, and southward along Erin Mills Parkway and Southdown Road into the Clarkson GO Station. Northbound buses reverse this route to Highway 403 and Mavis Road, then continue eastward along Civic View Drive southward along Duke of York Boulevard, and eastward along Rathburn to the Mississauga City Centre Terminal. Southbound buses stop only at: Erin Mills and Folkway Drive; South Common Centre Terminal; University Campus Bus Terminal; Erin Mills, south of Dundas; Erin Mills and Leanne Boulevard and Clarkson GO Station. Northbound buses stop only at: Erin Mills and Fowler Drive, Dundas, east of Erin Mills, University Campus Bus Terminal, South Common Centre Terminal, Erin Mills and Folkway, Mississauga City Centre Terminal.

Extend current routes

13 Glen Erin: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will extend the weekday and Saturday route to match the Sunday route. Southbound buses will operate along their current route to Clarkson GO Station, then, after looping through the station, continue southward along Southdown Road, eastward along Lakeshore Road East, southward along Inverhouse Drive and westward along Orr Road to Southdown Road. Northbound buses will begin at Orr and Southdown and proceed northward along Southdown to Clarkson GO Station, loop through the station, then resume their current route. The new Monday-to-Saturday routing south of Clarkson Station replaces service that buses on the 48 Erin Mills route currently provide. The new Sunday routing along Truscott, Winston Churchill and Bromsgrove replaces service that buses on the 23 Lakeshore route currently provide.

230 Sheridan Express: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will extend the Monday-to-Friday peak-period route. In the morning peak periods, westbound buses will operate along their regular route to the Sheridan Centre, then continue south- and westward along Fowler Drive, west- and southward along Leanne Boulevard, westward along North Sheridan Way, northbound along Hadwen Road, west- and northward along Speakman Drive and westward along Sheridan Park Drive to Winston Churchill Boulevard. In the afternoons, eastbound buses reverse this route from Sheridan Park and Winston Churchill, then proceed northward along Erin Mills Parkway, eastward along Lincoln Green Way, east-, south- and westward along Fowler to Erin Mills Parkway, resuming their current eastbound express route at Fowler and Erin Mills.


Shorten a current route

48 Erin Mills: Starting Tuesday, September 4, southbound buses will operate along their current route to Erin Mills Parkway and Burnhamthorpe Road, then continue westward along Burnhamthorpe, southward along South Millway into the South Common Centre Terminal. Northbound buses begin at the South Common Centre Terminal and continue southward along South Millway, eastward along The Collegeway and northward along Erin Mills Parkway, resuming their current route at Erin Mills and Burnhamthorpe. Buses on the 13 Glen Erin route will replace all service on the 48 Erin Mills route, except along Southdown Road between Truscott and Bromsgrove Drives. The new 110 University limited-service route will also serve Erin Mills and Southdown, south of Dundas Street West. Mississauga Transit will also increase the service hours for this route.

Revise current routes

26 Burnhamthorpe: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will revise the route so that buses will operate in both directions along Burnhamthorpe Road between City Centre Drive and Duke of York Boulevard. Eastbound buses will operate to Burnhamthorpe and City Centre, then proceed northward along City Centre, westward along Rathburn to the Mississauga City Centre Terminal, then continue westward along Rathburn and southward along Duke of York, then continue eastward along Burnhamthorpe. Westbound buses will operate westward along Burnhamthorpe to Duke of York, then proceed northward along Duke of York, westward along Rathburn into the Terminal, continue westward along Rathburn and southward along City Centre, then continue westward along Burnhamthorpe. Mississauga Transit will also adjust the schedules for this route. Starting Sunday, September 9, Mississauga Transit will also revise the Sunday routing of the route to match the Monday-to-Saturday route.

28 Confederation: Starting Tuesday, September 4, southbound buses will follow their current route from the Mississauga City Centre Terminal to Rathburn Road and Duke of York Boulevard, then continue westward along Rathburn and southward along Confederation Boulevard, resuming their current route at Confederation and Webb Drive. Northbound buses will reverse this route. Buses operating on the 28 Confederation route will no longer operate along Duke of York and Webb. Mississauga Transit will also adjust the schedule of this route.

6 Credit Woodlands-Westdale: Starting Tuesday, September 4, southbound buses will follow their regular route from the Mississauga City Centre Terminal to Rathburn Road and Duke of York Boulevard, then continue westward along Rathburn and southward along Living Arts Drive, resuming their regular route at Living Arts and Princess Royal Drives. Buses operating on the 6 Credit Woodlands-Westdale route will no longer operate along Princess Royal and Duke of York. Mississauga Transit will also adjust the schedule of this route.

23 Lakeshore: Starting Sunday, September 9, Mississauga Transit will revise the Sunday routing to match the Monday-to-Saturday routing. Buses on the 13 Glen Erin route will replace the Sunday 23 Lakeshore route along Truscott Drive, Winston Churchill Boulevard and Bromsgrove Drive and buses on the 23 Lakeshore route will not travel west of Clarkson GO Station on Sundays. Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will also increase the frequency and adjust the schedule of this route.


Increase service hours

48 Glen Erin: Starting Sunday, September 9, Mississauga Transit will begin to operate buses on the shortened 48 Erin Mills route on Sundays. (The route currently operates Mondays to Saturdays only.)


Decrease service hours

288 Wonderland Express: Friday, September 7 will be the last day of Monday-to-Friday service in 2007 on the seasonal route between the City Centre Terminal and Canada’s Wonderland. The route will continue to operate on weekends only until Sunday, October 7.


Re-instate services to high schools

318 Cawthra Secondary-Square One;

Cancel current routes

206 Burnhamthorpe Express: Friday, August 31 is the last day that Mississauga Transit buses will operate along the route. The new 76 Square One-Subway route will replace this service, starting Tuesday, September 4.

313 John Cabot-Phillip Pocock: Mississauga Transit will not operate buses on this high school route this term.

24 University: Friday, August 31 is the last day that Mississauga Transit buses will operate along the route. The new 110 University route will replace this service, starting Tuesday, September 4.


Increase the frequency of current routes

36 Colonial: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will increase the daily frequency of service on the route and adjust the schedule.

5 Dixie: Starting Saturday, September 8, Mississauga Transit will increase the Saturday and Sunday frequency of service and also adjust the schedule.

201 Dundas Express: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will increase the Monday-to-Friday peak-period frequency on the route, with better connections at Islington Station.

23 Lakeshore: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will increase the daily frequency of service and adjust the schedule on the route. Starting Sunday, September 9, it will revise the Sunday routing.

61 Mavis: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will increase the Monday-to-Friday frequency of service on the route and adjust the schedule.

44 Mississauga Road: Starting Tuesday, September 4, Mississauga Transit will increase the Monday-to-Saturday frequency of service and adjust the schedule for the route.

4 Sherway Gardens: Starting Saturday, September 8, Mississauga Transit will increase the Saturday frequency of service and adjust the schedule for the route.
