Transit Toronto Trolley Bus Memorial Pages

Feature Photograph

Gone but not forgotten. TTC Western Flyer rebuild coach #9331 leaves Glen Echo loop for a trip southbound to Eglinton on the 97 YONGE trolley bus route, in this February 1973 shot by T. Shepherd (from the John Knight collection). Just about everything in this photograph has changed. Glen Echo loop would close a month later when the YONGE SUBWAY was extended to York Mills, and the 97 YONGE trolley bus was converted to diesel operations. A supermarket now sits on this site.

The Transit Toronto Trolley Bus pages are dedicated to the memory of Toronto’s electric buses as they operated between 1921 and 1993. Since they vanished from our streets over twenty years ago, they have largely been forgotten, save at certain museums. Though there is little current news to print, we continue to add to our photo galleries, so check back as more material comes online.
