January 21, 1957

A new shuttle service is introduced to replace the west end of the HARBORD streetcar route, during construction of a grade separation on Davenport west of Caledonia at the CNR. Buses run from Townsley Loop south on Old Weston Road, east on Davenport, south on Symington, looping west on Dupont, south on Perth and east on Antler, then returning over the reverse routing to Townsley Loop.

Buses operated out of Lansdowne Garage and initially used KEELE transfers.

March 2, 1957

Announcement from the TTC’s Official Orders and Notices reads as follows:

NOTICE TO OPERATING PERSONNEL
- LANSDOWNE DIVISION -

CHANGE OF ROUTE - SYMINGTON BUS ROUTE

Operators and others concerned are informed that effective Saturday a.m., March 2nd, 1957, the Symington bus route will cease to loop via Dupont Street, Perth Avenue, Annette Street and Symington Avenue but will use Royce Loop as its southerly terminus.

The buses will enter the loop from Lansdowne Avenue and operate in a counter-clockwise direction. The eastbound Annette stop at Lansdowne Avenue will service for both route. The westbound stop for passengers at Lansdowne Avenue will be made in Royce Loop at the stop pole so marked and buses will NOT make a further stop at Lansdowne Avenue.

Operators and others concerned are requested to note the foregoing and operate accordingly.

June 25, 1958

Buses now operate both ways via Old Weston Road and Davenport between Townsley Loop and St. Clarens Loop, just east of Lansdowne.

July 27, 1958

The SYMINGTON route is discontinued and replaced by an extended 41 KEELE route running south of St. Clair to St. Clarens Loop. The route name would disappear for 36 years, until the arrival of 168 SYMINGTON in 1994.
