In recognition of the development of the suburbs of New Toronto and the borough of Etobicoke, a new rush hour service is inaugurated on Kipling Avenue (18th Avenue through New Toronto) between Lakeshore Boulevard and Rathburn Road. At the south end, buses loop in Kipling loop just north of Lakeshore Boulevard, while at the north end, buses loop via west on Random, north on Burrows and east on Rathburn.

Route extended north, replacing the Westway Shoppers’ Route, via Kipling, Princess Margaret, Islington, Westway, Benbow, Saskatoon, Westway and Lawrence to Weston, looping north and east on Little and south on Weston Road.

September 4, 1962.

Service on Westway now operated by a portion of the new 98 WESTWAY route. Kipling service extended north on Islington to Dixon Road, looping east via Dixon, through the Loblaws parking lot, and west to Islington.

September 1, 1963

Service on Islington replaced by the new 37 ISLINGTON bus. Kipling service revised to provide through service on Kipling between Lakeshore Boulevard and Albion Road, replacing a portion of the 80 REXDALE bus, looping at the north end via north on Benstrow, west on Amaron, south on Taysham and west on Penlea. Service now operates seven days a week, eighteen hours a day.

In addition, a new rush hour branch is added to serve the Belfield industrial area and the northern section of Martin Grove (Martin Grove south of the Westway was served by a branch of 2 ANGLESEY), operating from Lakeshore Boulevard via Kipling, Belfield and Martin Grove, looping via west on Porterfield, north on Kearney and east on Mercury.

Service extended north on Kipling to Mt.Olive, looping west on Mt.Olive, through the driveway on the south side of Albion Collegiate, and east on Mt.Olive to Kipling. The destination sign for this branch does not change.

September 5, 1967

Service on the Martin Grove branch extended north on Martin Grove to Albion, looping via east on Albion and southwest on Finch.

With the extension of the BLOOR DANFORTH SUBWAY to Islington, service rerouted to Islington station, with southbound buses operating via the south-to-east ramp of Six Points and Bloor Street to the station, and then leaving via west on Bloor, west on Dundas, north on Jopling and east on Bloor to Kipling. Service south of Bloor Street now provided by the new 44 KIPLING SOUTH route.

Midday service is added to the Martin Grove branch.

The Belfield looping is reversed, with buses now operating north on Brockport, west on Disco, and south on Attwell, returning east on Belfield.

February 4, 1970

Service on Kipling is extended north of Albion to Beaconhill (Etobicoke council finally approving the looping arrangements the previous night), looping via west on Beaconhill, south on Maryhill and east on Annabelle.

The Belfield loop is revised to operate via south on Attwell, east on McLachlan, and north on Brockport, then east on Belfield.

August 15, 1973

Due to construction of the Belfield Expressway (later known as Highway 409), the Belfield loop is revised to operate via south on Attwell, east on McLachlan, and north on Brockport, west on Marmac and north on Attwell.

November 26, 1973

Belfield service is extended on a new branch northwest Belfield running north on Attwell and west on Disco, looping north and east on Attwell, then south on Carlingview. Alternate ‘Belfield’ rush hour buses continue to loop south of Belfield.

Southbound 45 and 45A buses now enter Kipling Station via south on Kipling and west on St.Albans. 46 MARTIN GROVE buses continue to run via Bloor and Aukland into the station.

September 7, 1999

The pattern of express stops is adjusted on the 45E rush hour service. Local service that did operate between Steeles and Dixon inclusive is now shortened to between Steeles and Rexdale inclusive. Express stops are discontinued at Widdicombe, Rathburn and Burnhamthorpe. Express buses continue to stop at Dixon, Westway and Eglinton in both directions.

December 6, 1999

The local portion of the 45E branch is extended south a couple stops and operates local between Steeles and Belfield inclusive.

February 13, 2005

Accessible service is introduced utilizing low floor Orion VII and low Floor Flyer D40LF buses on all runs, every day of the week.
