Service begins on a new rush hour route, operated by the Toronto Transportation Commission under contract with the Township of York. Service operates from the Jane/Montye intersection (located just north of Annette) via north on Jane, east on Lambton and north on Guestville, to loop via east on Eglinton, south on Weston Road and west on York. At the south end, buses loop via south on Jane, east on Annette, north on Willard and west on Montye.

This service does not show up on TTC system maps until the July 1st, 1954 edition, so it's likely that no transfers were issued or accepted by connecting bus routes.

The route is temporarily split at the Canadian Pacific Railway underpass between Dundas and St. Clair, due to bridge reconstruction. South of Dundas, buses operate between Jane Station and Dundas, looping via west on Page, north on Watson and east on Dundas to south on Jane. North of St. Clair, buses operate between Lawrence and St. Clair, looping via east on Pritchard, south on Mariposa and west on St. Clair to north on Jane. Buses operate over the normal route, and then divert via Dundas, Runnymede and St. Clair. To assist people in the neighbourhood through construction, a free fare zone is introduced between St. John's and Pritchard, beginning on September 7, 1971 and lasting for the duration of the detour.

On the afternoon of this date, construction ends, and through service resumes, through the new underpass.
