Until November 24, 2002, service on Pharmacy Avenue north of Lawrence used to operate in two branches. One branch of 67 PHARMACY followed Pharmacy Avenue north of Ellesmere Road to loop via Reddings Road, Crosland Drive and Penworth Road, while the other branch ran to Steeles Avenue via west on Ellesmere, north on Victoria Park and east on Sheppard. This was done because Pharmacy Avenue was split by Highway 401.

With the opening of the Sheppard Subway, the TTC felt that passengers on Pharmacy Avenue north of Sheppard would benefit if the route was split, and their section run directly to the subway at Don Mills station. This 167 PHARMACY NORTH was born. 67 PHARMACY continued to operate on its one branch to Penworth Road, and all PHARMACY service on Ellesmere and Victoria Park came to a close.

November 24, 2002

Operation of 167 PHARMACY NORTH begins. Service operates Mondays through Fridays during rush hours and midday and during the daytime on Saturday, running from Don Mills station to an off-street loop on Esna Park Drive just north of Steeles Avenue via Sheppard and Pharmacy. Service operates every 20 minutes during peak periods and on Saturdays and every 30 minutes during the midday.

May 11, 2003

To improve reliability during rush hours, running times are lengthened on this route. Buses now operate at 24 minute intervals during rush hours.

November 23, 2008

As part of the TTC’s Ridership Growth Strategy, service on Pharmacy Avenue is increased so that buses operate at all times that the subway is open, seven days a week.

To accomplish this, a new 167A branch is established, operating at all times outside of Monday-to-Friday rush hours and midday, following the regular route, but deviating in both directions via Yorkland Boulevard, Consumers Road and Victoria Park, to serve the industrial area southwest of the Sheppard/Victoria Park intersection when the 24A VICTORIA PARK branch does not operate.
