April 15th, 1956

A new route, 15 BRIMLEY, is inaugurated replacing part of the PINE HILLS bus route. Buses operate from Luttrell Loop, east on Danforth Avenue, northeast on Danforth Road and north on Brimley, looping just south of Lawrence Avenue via Shediac, Fraserton and Gage. Extra trips operated during rush hours and visiting hours further north on Brimley and east on Lawrence to the Hospital on McCowans Road (today’s McCowan Road), looping in the hospital’s driveway.

May 18th, 1958

All service extended east on Lawrence Avenue from the Hospital to Bellamy Road, looping in the Texaco Gas Station. Branch redesignated 15.

September 8th, 1958

During rush hours, service extended east from Bellamy to Orton Park, looping via north on Orton Park, west on Brimorton and south on Scarborough Golf Club Road, returning west on Lawrence Avenue.

September 9th, 1959

Midday service added to the 15B Orton Park branch.

A new branch (15C) is added serving the Churchill Heights district. During rush hours and midday, buses operate over the regular route to Bellamy and Lawrence and then run north on Bellamy, northeast on Danforth Road (today’s Painted Post Road) to Brimorton Drive, looping via west on Brimorton and south on Markham Road to Danforth Road, returning to the route.

At all other times, service operates to Lawrence and Bellamy only.

November 4th, 1962

Service on the main 15 BRIMLEY branch extended from its former terminus at Bellamy, east along Lawrence Avenue to Greenholm Circuit, just east of Markham Road, providing evening service for shoppers and night school service.

August 31, 1963

Last day of service. The next day, operation commenced on the new 54 LAWRENCE EAST bus route, replacing 15 BRIMLEY’s service on Lawrence Avenue. At the same time, service south of Lawrence Avenue restructured, provided by the 21 DANFORTH route.

  • Note: 15A “Eglinton” zone boundary short turn branch continued to appear on rollsigns until August 31, 1963.
