The Orion V 7039 Charter (August 30, 2014)

Text by James Bow

Once again in 2014, the Toronto Transportation Society held their annual Labour Day transportation weekend, chartering equipment to the delight of transit fans to celebrate the end of summer. On Saturday, August 30, transit fans gathered outside of Don Mills station on the SHEPPARD SUBWAY to take TTC Orion V bus #7039 on a jaunt through the east end of the city.

While not an official farewell charter, it was generally recognized that this would be one of the last opportunities to charter an Orion V bus, as the model was nearing the end of its service life, and a number of 7039’s compatriots were heading towards retirement. So, this charter was an opportunity for many to say goodbye to an old friend.

Here are some shots from the day.
