In 1997 the TTC decided to lease 30 buses in order to counter a bus shortage. The buses were leased from UTA (Utah Transit Authority) of Salt Lake City.

Many non-standard features on this bus include, tinted windows, standing passenger windows, single stream rear door and a turbo charged engine. These buses are also equipped with a wheelchair lift although not used during thier brief visit to the TTC.

The buses were taken out of TTC service at the end of April, and were shipped off to Quebec City who had bought them. Brantford Transit also bought some of these buses.
