King Street overnight sewer work: TTC detours, November 7, 8



From 10:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7 until 4:30 a.m. Friday, November 8, City of Toronto crews are maintaining sewers in the streetcar right-of-way somewhere on King Streets East or West somewhere between Church Street and Spadina Avenue.

(The TTC has not specified the location of the construction site and the City of Toronto’s website is also silent on the location of the traffic-lane closure.)

The TTC is detouring streetcars along these routes, while the streets are closed:

Shuttle buses replace the cars, operating between Bathurst and Jarvis Streets.

From 10:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7 until 4:30 a.m. Friday, November 8, westbound cars operate along their regular route to King Street East and Church Street, then detour:

northward along Church;
westward along Richmond Street West;
northward along Victoria Street;
westward along Queen Streets East and West; and then
southward along Spadina Avenue to King West,
resuming their regular route westward along King.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on King Street East west of Church Street and
  • on King Street West west of Yonge and Bay Streets, University Avenue and John and Peter Streets.

Instead, westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Church Street at Lombard Street,
  • on Victoria Street at Queen Street East,
  • on Queen Street East at Yonge Street,
  • on Queen Street West at Bay Street, across from York Street and at University Avenue, St. Patrick, John and Soho Streets and Spadina Avenue and
  • on Spadina Avenue south of Queen Street West and at King Street West.

Shuttle buses replace the cars between Church Street and Spadina Avenue. Westbound streetcar passengers can transfer to westbound buses on King Street East at Jarvis and Church Streets.

Eastbound cars operate along their regular route to King Street West and Spadina Avenue, then detour:

eastward along Queen Streets West and East; and then
southward along Church Street to King East,
resuming their regular route eastward along King.

304 / 504 King shuttle buses

From 10:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7 until 4:30 a.m. Friday, November 8, shuttle buses replace streetcars along the 304 King overnight and 504A / 504B King routes between Church Street and Spadina Avenue.

Westbound buses start their trips on Sherbourne Street at King Street East, then proceed:

westward along King Street East and West;
northward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward into Wolseley Loop,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on King Street East west of Jarvis and Church Streets,
  • on King Street West west of Yonge and Bay Streets, University Avenue and John and Peter Streets and at Portland and Bathurst Streets,
  • on Bathurst Street at Queen Street West and
  • in Wolseley Loop.

Westbound bus passengers can transfer to westbound streetcars at stops on King Street West between Spadina Avenue and Bathurst Street.

Eastbound buses start their trips in Wolseley Loop, then proceed:

southward along Bathurst Street;
eastward along King Streets West and East;
northward along Jarvis Street;
eastward along Adelaide Street East; and then
southward along Sherbourne Street to King East,
ending their trips.
