Burlington Transit detour, starting September 30



Update — Friday, October 4, 2:35 p.m.: Due to inclement weather, the Region is must extend the project timeline. The City continues to close the street to traffic and Burlington Transit continues to detour buses until October 9.


Starting Monday, September 30, the City of Burlington is closing

  • Prospect Street between Dynes Road and Cumberland Avenue

to accommodate Region of Halton contractors who are working on a project to install a large water-valve chamber at the Hydro One corridor, as part of the second feeder main to Washburn Reservoir. The new valve chamber will connect the new water main under Prospect Street to the older main under the hydro corridor.

(Updated — Friday, October 4, 2:35 p.m.) From Monday, September 30 until Friday, October 4 Wednesday, October 9, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Prospect Street and Dynes Road, then detour:

southward along Dynes;
eastward along Woodward Avenue to Cumberland Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Cumberland.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Prospect Street beside #3270 Prospect and
  • on Cumberland Avenue at Woodward Avenue.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Cumberland Avenue at Northgate Drive and
  • on Prospect Street across from #s 3270 and 3232 Prospect and Dynes Road.
