Friday, April 26, the Region of Peel is starting a project to replace the water main

Crews generally work Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. However, due to the complexity of the project, they may occasionally work overnight and weekends.

Work zones may intermittently restrict traffic on Steeles West to just one lane in each direction. Brampton Transit passengers aboard buses along these routes can expect delays:

  • 3 / 3A McLaughlin;
  • 4 / 4A Chinguacousy;
  • 11 Steeles;
  • 51 Hereford;
  • 53 Ray Lawson;
  • 54 County Court;
  • 56 Kingknoll;
  • 57 Charolais;
  • 104 Chinguacousy express; and
  • 511 / 511C Züm Steeles.

Brampton Transit may also temporarily relocate bus stops near the work zones. Starting Friday, April 26, it’s closing the stop on Hurontario Street south of Steeles Avenue West, affecting service along these routes:

  • 2 Main;
  • 54 County Court; and
  • 200 Turner Fenton iRide high-school special.

Brampton Transit personnel will be on-site to help you find your bus stop.

Crews may also intermittently block bus access to Brampton Gateway Terminal — for the first, but not final, occasion during this project overnight from 9 p.m. Friday, April 26 until 9 a.m. Saturday, April 27.

You can also expect detours and delays aboard MiWay buses along this route:

  • 103 Hurontario express.

Construction work will be in phases, with each phase having a different impact on access to Brampton Gateway Terminal. At the end of the project, Brampton Transit is closing Brampton Gateway Terminal, while crews repair the bus entrance. Whenever crews work near the bus bays on Steeles West, they’ll place fencing beside the Steeles Avenue platforms to maintain safety and separate the construction from the public.

Water-main construction on Steeles Avenue West and the resulting Brampton Transit and MiWay service changes continue until July 26.
