Honda Indy: TTC detours, July 11 to 15



From 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 15, the City of Toronto is closing:

  • Lake Shore Boulevard West between Ontario Drive and Strachan Avenue

to accommodate the annual Honda Indy motorsports festival.

Exhibition Place is also closing a number of streets, including:

  • Canada Boulevard,
  • Manitoba Drive,
  • Nova Scotia Avenue,
  • Ontario Drive and
  • Princes’ Boulevard

during the event.

The TTC is detouring buses and streetcars while the streets are closed (or to avoid congestion near the venue) along these routes:

  • 121 Fort York - Esplanade;
  • 145 Downtown / Humber Bay express;
  • 504C King; and
  • 510 Spadina.

Thursday, July 12 and Friday, July 13, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Lake Shore Boulevard West and Colborne Lodge Drive, then detour:

northward along Colborne Lodge; and then
eastward along The Queensway and King Street West to Bathurst Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Bathurst.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West across from Colborne Lodge Drive,
  • on Fleet Street at Bathurst Street and
  • on Bathurst Street at King Street West.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Bathurst Street at Fleet Street.
121 Fort York - Esplanade

From 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 15, eastbound buses start their trips on Fleet Street [westbound] at Fort York Boulevard, then proceed:

along their regular route north- and eastward along Fort York.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Remembrance Drive at the central entrance to Ontario Place,
  • on Fleet Street [eastbound] at Fort York Boulevard.

Instead, eastbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Fleet Street at Fort York Boulevard.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Fort York Boulevard and Bathurst Street, then detour:

southward along Bathurst; and then
westward along Fleet Street to Fort York Boulevard,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Fort York Boulevard west of Bathurst Street, across from Gzowski Street and at Fleet Street and
  • on Remembrance Drive at the central and administrative entrances to Ontario Place.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Bathurst Street at Fleet Street and
  • on Fleet Street west of Bastion Street and at Fort York Boulevard.

From 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, to avoid congestion at Exhibition Place, eastbound streetcars start their trips in Sunnyside Loop, then proceed:

southward along Sunnyside Avenue; and then
eastward along The Queensway and King Street West to Dufferin Street,
resuming their regular route eastward along King West.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Dufferin Gate Loop and
  • on Dufferin Street at Liberty Street and King Street West.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • in Sunnyside Loop,
  • on King Street West across from Wilson Park Road and at Dowling, Jameson, Dunn and Spencer Avenues and Dufferin Street.

Westbound cars operate along their regular route to King Street West and Dufferin Street, then detour:

westward along King Street West and The Queensway; and then
northward into Sunnyside Loop,
ending their trips.

  • on Dufferin Street across from Liberty Street and at Springhurst Avenue and
  • in Dufferin Gate Loop.

Instead, westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on King Street West across from Spencer Avenue and at Dowling, Jameson and Dunn Avenues and west of Wilson Park Road and
  • in Sunnyside Loop.
510 Spadina

From 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, to avoid congestion at Union Station, all cars start and end their trips in Queens Quay / Spadina Loop.

South- and eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen’s Quay West at Rees and York Streets and
  • in the Bay Street streetcar tunnel
  • at Queens Quay Station; and
  • at Union Station.

Streetcars along the 509 Harbourfront route continue to serve passengers at these stops.

West- and northbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in the Bay Street streetcar tunnel
  • at Union Station; and
  • at Queens Quay Station.
  • on Queens Quay West west of York and Rees Streets.
