Main Street Station: TTC closing terminal,
diverting buses, starting May 13

Update — Friday, May 18, 3:32 p.m.: Starting Tuesday, May 22, the City of Toronto closes Main Street to all traffic in front of the station, so that the TTC can replace the tracks there. The TTC also slightly adjusts the detour routings for some of the buses that day.

The TTC is upgrading the infrastructure at Main Street Station this spring and summer.

Contractors started working on the project Monday, April 23. Starting Sunday, May 13, the TTC is closing the station terminal to all buses to facilitate the project.

  • 20 Cliffside;
  • 23 Dawes;
  • 62 Mortimer;
  • 64 Main;
  • 87 Cosburn;
  • 113 Danforth;

(Updated — Friday, May 18, 3:32 p.m.) Starting Tuesday, May 22, the City of Toronto closes Main Street beside Main Street Station to all traffic and TTC crews replace the tracks.

They’ll work “around-the-clock” to maintain the quality when installing new rail and concrete. Most of the track work takes place from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. and will involve overnight activities, including rail installation and concrete pouring. They’ll replace old rail with the new rail, which requires them to cut, weld and grind the rail.
