Wilson and Water Markham construction:
YRT detour, March 12 to 16



Starting Monday, March 12, the City of Markham is closing:

  • Wilson Street and
  • Water Street

to accommodate Region of York contractors who are working on the project to replace the water-main along nearby Bullock Drive.

York Region Transit is detouring buses operating along this route, while the streets are closed:

  • 522 Markham community bus.

This phase of construction on Wilson and Water Streets and the YRT detour continue until March 16.


York Region is working to replace the water-main under Bullock Drive, between McCowan Road and Main Street North Markham. Construction started in January and continues until December. For most of the project, Bullock Drive remains open to traffic.

From Monday, March 12 until Friday, March 16, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Robinson Street and Main Street North, then proceed:

along their regular route southward along Main North.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Robinson Street at Water Street,
  • at the 20 / 22 Water Street Residence and
  • on Water Street at Robinson Street.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Highway 7 and Main Street, then proceed:

along their regular route eastward along Highway 7.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street North (northbound) across from Thompson Court,
  • on Robinson Street at Water Street,
  • at the 20 / 22 Water Street Residence,
  • on Water Street at Robinson Street and
  • on Main Street North (southbound) south of Robinson Street and Thompson Court.
