Less service to colleges and universities during the holidays

Exams are ending and classes are over until the new year, so many area transit agencies — especially GO Transit — decrease services to colleges and universities for the holidays. Starting this week, fewer buses operate along many of the routes that serve passengers traveling to and from post-secondary institutions. Most service resumes after New Year’s Day.

(This year, some agencies continue to operate extra services to colleges, as, in some cases, classes or exams continue due to the college faculty and workers strike earlier this year.)

These transit agencies are decreasing services to colleges and universities: Durham Region Transit; GO Transit; Grand River Transit; Guelph Transit; the Hamilton Street Railway; MiWay; Niagara Falls Transit; Niagara-on-the-Lake Transit; Niagara Region Transit; Peterborough Transit; the St. Catharines Transit Commission; the Toronto Transit Commission; Welland Transit; and York Region Transit.

They’re decreasing services to: Brock University, Centennial College’s Morningside and Progress campuses, Conestoga College’s Cambridge, Doon and Waterloo campuses, Durham College’s North Oshawa and Whitby campuses campus, Fleming College’s Sutherland campus, Humber College’s Lakeshore and North campuses, McMaster University main Hamilton campus, Mohawk College’s Fennell campus, Niagara College’s Glendale and Woodlawn campuses, Redeemer University College, Sheridan College’s Davis and Trafalgar campuses, Trent University’s Oshawa and Symons campuses the University of Guelph’s main Guelph campus, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) North Oshawa and Downtown Oshawa campuses, the University of Toronto’s Mississauga and Scarborough campuses, the University of Waterloo’s main Waterloo campus, Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo campus and York University’s Keele campus.
