Honda Indy affects GO, TTC services, July 12 to 17

The City of Toronto is closing:

  • Strachan Avenue, between Fleet Street / Manitoba Drive and Lake Shore Boulevard West, starting at noon, today, Wednesday, July 12; and
  • Lake Shore Boulevard West between British Columbia Drive and Strachan Avenue, starting at 8 p.m.

to accommodate crews who are setting up the annual Honda Indy Toronto street motor racing event at Exhibition Place — and the event itself.

Both streets reopen to traffic 12:01 a.m. Monday, July 17.

Exhibition Place is also closing:

  • Princes’ Boulevard between Saskatchewan Road / Manitoba Drive and Strachan Avenue;
  • Ontario Drive between Princes’ Boulevard and Lake Shore Boulevard West;
  • Manitoba Drive between Saskatchewan Road / Princes’ Boulevard and Nova Scotia Avenue;
  • Nova Scotia Avenue between Manitoba Drive and Nunavut Road; and
  • Nunavut Road between Nova Scotia Avenue and Princes’ Boulevard.

The TTC is revising services during the event along these routes:

  • 63 Ossington;
  • 121 Fort York - Esplanade;
  • 145 Downtown / Humber Bay express;
  • 509 Harbourfront;
  • 510 Spadina;
  • 511 Bathurst; and
  • 514 Cherry.

It is already detouring buses operating these routes, due to the large number of events taking place in Exhibition Place this summer:

  • 29 Dufferin; and
  • 329 Dufferin overnight.

The TTC is also operating express shuttle buses between Jane Station and Dufferin Gate Loop Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16.

Delays from congestion resulting from motorists seeking alternate routes around the road closures may affect GO Transit service along these routes from Thursday, July 13 until Sunday, July 17.

southward along Sunnyside Avenue; and then

Honda Indy express shuttle

From 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday, July 15 and from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, July 16, the TTC operates express buses between Jane Station and Dufferin Gate Loop. Buses operate without stopping between the two terminals.

Eastbound buses start their trips in Jane Station, then proceed:

southward along Armadale Avenue;
westward along Bloor Street West;
southward along South Kingsway;
eastward along The Queensway and King Street West;
southward along Dufferin Street;
eastward along Springhurst Avenue;
southward along Fort Rouille Street; and then
eastward into Dufferin Gate Loop,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips in Dufferin Gate Loop, then proceed:

northward along Dufferin Street;
westward along King Street West and The Queensway;
northward along South Kingsway;
eastward along Bloor Street West;
northward along Jane Street; and then
eastward into Jane Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Buses operate every 10 minutes, but, due to congestion on streets during nearby road closures, the frequency depends on traffic conditions.

63 Ossington

From 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16, the TTC operates extra buses along the route.

510 Spadina

From 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16, during the actual event and when traffic congestion is blocking streets, all cars start and end their trips in Queens Quay / Spadina Loop.

South- and eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queens Quay West across from Rees and York Streets and
  • in the Bay Street tunnel at:
  • Queens Quay Station; and
  • Union Station.

West- and northbound** cars skip their regular stops

  • in the Bay Street tunnel at:
  • Union Station; and
  • Queens Quay Station.
  • on Queens Quay West west of York and Rees Streets.
