Hamilton football fans may ride free of fare
to and from Ti-Cat games

The Hamilton Street Railway is offering Canadian Football League fans free rides to and from Hamilton Tiger-Cats games at Tim Hortons Field again this year.

The 2017 Ticket to Ride program allows you to ride any HSR bus from three hours before the start of any home game until the end of service on game day, if you hold a valid ticket for the game.

You can also take advantage of Tiger-Cats Express shuttles. Park your car at or near one of three terminals across the City and the HSR will whisk you directly to the stadium on an express bus — and then take you back to the terminals after the game. (You can also take another HSR bus to one of the four terminals — just show your game ticket to the bus operating and that’s your ticket to ride.)

This year, the HSR is not providing a separate shuttle between downtown Hamilton and the stadium. Instead, it’s offering more frequent service along the express shuttle buses to and from University Plaza, with stops at McMaster University and downtown.

Tiger-Cats Express

Express shuttle buses operate from:

  • University Plaza, leaving from the route 10 platform and stopping only on Main Street West at Emerson Avenue (across from McMaster University) and on Main Street East at John Street South (regular routes 5 and 10 stop), near the Hamilton GO Centre. Buses start about two hours before the games and operate every 20 minutes until game time. On their return trip to University Plaza, the buses stop on King Street East at Hughson Street North (regular route 10 stop).
  • Lime Ridge Mall park ‘n’ ride, stopping only at Lime Ridge Terminal at the route 25 northbound platform. Buses start about two hours before the games and operate every 15-30 minutes until game time.
  • Eastgate Square Terminal, leaving from the regular route 10 platform stopping only at the park ‘n’ ride lot at Queenston Road and Kenora Avenue at the regular route 1 stop. Buses start about two hours before the games and operate every 30 minutes until game time.

You can find free parking in lots with the Tiger-Cats banner near the terminals at Eastgate Square, Lime Ridge Mall and the University Plaza.

Buses operating along the three shuttle routes drop off and pick up passengers on the north side of King Street East between Balsam and Melrose Avenues North.

Passengers who use D.A.R.T.S (Disabled and Aged Regional Transit System) can also ride to the game for free, if they hold a valid ticket for the game. (.pdf) Book your ride by calling 905-529-1212.

The Ticket to Ride program is in effect — and the Tiger-Cats express buses operate — before and after home games:

GO Transit passengers arriving at the Hamilton GO Centre can walk two blocks north to Main Street East and John Street South to board the express shuttle buses. Or board regular-service HSR buses operating along the 2 Barton or 3 Cannon routes at the terminal inside the GO Centre.

You can exit buses operating along the 2 Barton route at Barton Street East and Lenister Avenue and walk one block south to Tim Hortons Field. You can exit buses operating along the 3 Cannon route at Cannon Street East and Balsam Avenue North, cross Cannon East and walk north to the stadium.
