Dundas East / Parliament construction ends:
Some regular TTC services resume, May 31

Update — Friday, August 18, 10:47 a.m.: Construction has ended and TTC streetcars operating along the 505 Dundas route have resumed regular service between Bay and Church Streets.

Update — Saturday, June 3, 3:06 p.m.: Streetcars resume their regular route through Parliament Street tomorrow, Sunday, June 4 at 5 a.m. The cars continue to detour around long-term construction between Church and Yonge Streets.

Since Monday, May 15, the City of Toronto and the TTC have been replacing the streetcar tracks at:

  • the intersection of Dundas Street East with Parliament Street.

(Updated — Saturday, June 3, 3:06 p.m.) To accommodate the work, the City completely closed the intersection to all traffic. The City and TTC scheduled the work to continue for three weeks, or until until 5 a.m. June 5 4. However, the City extended the work hours, so that crews could finish the project earlier. Starting 6 p.m. tonight, the City is opening one lane for traffic in each direction through the intersection.

Starting 5 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, May 31, the TTC is resuming some of its regular service. Buses can now operate through the intersection. TTC crews continue to upgrade the overhead streetcar wiring, so the TTC continues to divert the cars.

Reopening the intersection to traffic affects TTC service along these routes:

  • 65 Parliament;
  • 365 Parliament overnight; and
  • 505 Dundas.

The TTC also continues to detour streetcars operating along the 505 Dundas route during another construction project on Dundas Street East between Church and Yonge Streets. To accommodate both projects, the streetcars follow a long detour routing.

Shuttle buses replace the cars between Broadview Avenue and Bay Street.

(Updated — Saturday, June 3, 3:06 p.m.) TTC overhead wiring work at Dundas East / Parliament and these streetcar detours continue until 5 a.m. June 5 4.
