TTC detours, April 17 to 22



Starting Monday, April 17, TTC crews are repairing the concrete at the curved section of streetcar track on Fort Rouille Street near Dufferin Gate Loop.

The TTC is detouring buses and streetcars operating along these routes, while the work proceeds:

  • 29 Dufferin;
  • 501L Queen / Long Branch shuttle; and
  • 514 Cherry.

  • Monday, April 17: At about 8 a.m., crews will set up the work zone. From about 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., they’ll remove old concrete with a backhoe.
  • Tuesday, April 18: Crews continue removing concrete from about 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 19: Crews place new concrete in the track area and set it to cure. (The new concrete requires curing time before the crews can clear the work zone.)
  • Thursday, April 20: Curing continues.
  • Friday, April 21: Curing ends.
  • Saturday, April 22, 5 a.m.: Crews clear the work zone. Motorists can again use the roadway. Transit service resumes.

Local traffic can continue to operate along Fort Rouille Street through the work zone. Crews will avoid or minimize delaying traffic.

Construction and the TTC detours continue until April 22.

The TTC is maintaining regular streetcar service along the route, while crews are removing concrete, Monday, April 17 and Tuesday, April 18.

From Wednesday, April 19 until 5 a.m. Saturday, April 22, eastbound cars start their trips on King Street West at Dufferin Street, then proceed:

northward along Dufferin;
eastward along Queen Street West; and then
southward along Shaw Street to King West,
resuming their regular route eastward along King.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Dufferin Gate Loop and
  • on Dufferin Street at Liberty Street and King Street West.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on King Street West (westbound) at Dufferin Street,
  • on Dufferin Street across from Melbourne Street and at Queen Street West,
  • on Queen Street West across from Gladstone Avenue, at Abell Street, Dovercourt Road, Lower Ossington Avenue and Shaw Street and
  • on Shaw Street across from Adelaide Street West and at King Street West.

Westbound cars operate along their regular route to King Street West and Dufferin Street, ending their trips.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Dufferin Street across from Liberty Street and at Springhurst Avenue and
  • in Dufferin Gate Loop.

From Monday, April 17 until 5 a.m. Saturday, April 22, buses do not enter Dufferin Gate Loop.

Southbound buses operate along their regular route to Dufferin Street and Springhurst Avenue, then proceed:

southward along Dufferin;
eastward along Saskatchewan Road and Manitoba Drive;
southward along Canada Boulevard; and then
eastward into Princes’ Gate Loop,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • in Dufferin Gate Loop.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Saskatchewan Road east of Dufferin Street,
  • on Manitoba Drive at Quebec Street and Nova Scotia Avenue and across from Exhibition Loop and
  • in Princes’ Gate Loop.

Northbound buses start their trips in Princes’ Gate Loop, then proceed:

northward along Canada Boulevard;
westward along Manitoba Drive and Saskatchewan Road; and then
northward along Dufferin Street to Springhurst Avenue,
resuming their regular route northward along Dufferin.
