Update — Wednesday, April 5, 8:02 a.m.: Construction continues until April 21.

Update — Monday, April 3, 10:14 a.m.: Construction continues until April 6.

Starting Wednesday, March 29, TTC crews are repairing a section of underground water main that delivers water to Bathurst Station in front of the Markham Street exit / entrance.

This project temporarily blocks sidewalks on Markham Street, but passengers can still gain access to the station entrance / exit.

Crews are digging out an area of the east sidewalk to expose part of the water main. They’ll keep all work material and excavated soil within a designated work zone, which will include a part of the sidewalk. They mostly work Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Traffic on Markham Street can continue to flow both ways through the work zone. If the crews have to work on the roadway, a flag person will manage traffic. The work zone remains in place until crew finish repairing the main and restoring the sidewalks.

Update — Friday, April 21, 4:35 p.m.: Starting Tuesday, May 2, the TTC is temporarily closing the Markham Street entrance/exit completely due to work site conditions requiring extended excavation.

The east sidewalk will also be closed for safety as excavation needs to extend further to repair the damaged section of watermain.

Customers must access the station via the main entrance/exit on Bathurst Street.

Construction to repair the watermain at the Markham Street exit / entrance continues until further notice April 6 21 May 12.
