TTC detours, March 30



The City of Toronto is closing a number of streets in downtown Toronto this morning, Wednesday, March 30 to accommodate the funeral procession for Councillor Rob Ford. The procession for the late councillor (and former mayor) starts from City Hall and continues to the Cathedral Church of St. James for the funeral service.

The TTC is detouring buses and streetcars operating along these routes to accommodate the event:


6 Bay

From 10:30 until 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and Gerrard Street West, then detour:

westward along Gerrard West;
southward along University Avenue; and then
eastward along Adelaide Street West to Bay,
resuming their regular route southward along Bay.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bay Street at Elm Street and Dundas Street West, across from Hagerman Street, beside Nathan Phillips Square and at Queen and Adelaide Streets West.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Gerrard Street West west of Elizabeth Street and at University Avenue,
  • on University Avenue at Dundas and Queen Streets West and
  • on Adelaide Street West at York and Bay Streets.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and Richmond Street West, then detour:

westward along Richmond West;
northward along University Avenue; and then
eastward along Gerrard Street West to Bay,
resuming their regular route northward along Bay.

southward along Lower Jarvis;
westward along Queens Quay East; and then
northward along Yonge Street to Wellington Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Wellington Street West.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on The Esplanade west of Market Street,
  • on Church Street at Front Street East and
  • on Wellington Street East at Yonge Street.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Queens Quay East west of Lower Jarvis Street and at Freeland and Yonge Streets and
  • on Yonge Street north of Queens Quay East and Front Street East.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to King Street West and Bay Street, then detour:

southward along Bay;

northward along Lower Jarvis Street to The Esplanade,
