Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 16, MiWay buses start operating through two new Mississauga Transitway stations — Tahoe and Etobicoke Creek, extending bus rapid transit service from Dixie station to the Mississauga Airport Corporate Centre.

Buses serving MiExpress routes 107 Malton express and 109 Meadowvale express now travel on this new section of separate bus roadway, dropping off or picking up passengers at the two new stations.

Starting tomorrow, the buses no longer operate on Eastgate Parkway and Eglinton Avenue East between Dixie and Etobicoke Creek Stations.

Eight stations and 12 kilometres (7.4 miles) of the 18-kilometre (11.18-mile) transitway are now complete. With the opening of Tahoe and Etobicoke Creek stations, MiWay buses now travel on the busway from east of the City Centre Transit Terminal (at Rathburn Road and Hurontario Street) to Central Parkway, Cawthra, Tomken, Dixie, Tahoe and Etobicoke Creek stations. Last September, Metrolinx opened Erin Mills station to GO Transit buses. MiWay plans to introduce its service to Erin Mills Station, starting this May.

The Mississauga Transitway uses bus-only bypass lanes on Highway 403, mixed-traffic lanes in the City Centre area and a separate bus-only roadway east of Hurontario Street.
