Eglinton Crosstown LRT -- Allen Road:
Truck staging, construction compound

eglinton crosstown logo.png

Metrolinx contractors are working to build the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line.

Tunnel-boring machines have started working east of Allen Road, heading toward Yonge Street. During this phase of the work, the contractors have installed a truck staging area beside the southbound lanes of William R. Allen Road and a construction compound beside the northbound lanes. The truck-staging lane will hold as many as four trucks at a time. The trucks will bring materials to the work site or haul away dirt and debris. The contractors are using the construction compound as full-time facility for staff and crews.

Starting in September, the construction compound becomes fully active. Be cautious when driving on Allen Road near Eglinton Avenue West. Vehicles enter and exit from both sites throughout long-term construction of the Crosstown at Allen Road. Expect (even more) traffic delays.

The City of Toronto has reduced the speed limit along Allen north of Eglinton West to just 40 kilometres an hour to improve the safety of motorists and workers. (Southbound motorists seldom have the opportunity to go faster than 40 km/h at this location, anyway.)

Since transit vehicles do not operate along Allen Road, installing the truck staging area or construction compound does not impact transit services.

However, during construction on Eglinton Avenue West at Allen Road, TTC passengers should expect delays for buses operating along these routes:

  • 32 Eglinton East;
  • 63 Ossington;
  • 109 Ranee;
  • 307 Eglinton West overnight; and
  • 316 Ossington overnight.
