Weather continues to affect streetcars

The extreme cold continues to affect TTC streetcar service and will impact this afternoon’s rush hour. The TTC is advising that afternoon rush hour will see a shortage of 35 streetcars across the network. The TTC normally operates about 195 streetcars during peak service. During morning rush hour today, the TTC was short 61 streetcars at its peak.

The TTC is using buses to supplement streetcar routes. It will use 10 buses to bolster service along the 504 King route this afternoon. The TTC only operate buses along the 508 Lake Shore route. Passengers who usually travel along the 508 Lake Shore route should board streetcars or buses along the 504 King route, then transfer 508 Lake Shore or 501 Queen bus or streetcar at Roncesvalles Avenue.

Even with extra bus service, the afternoon commute will take longer than usual. Passengers should use to learn when the next streetcar or bus is due to arrive at their stop. The TTC is preparing for another cold night and will have buses on standby first thing tomorrow morning to help supplement service.
