"Early homebound" rush-hour service,

Christmas Eve, this Tuesday, December 24, many people will likely knock off work early to get a head start on the holidays — or to do last-minute Christmas shopping.

The TTC, GO Transit, MiWay, YRT and other transit agencies are responding by starting afternoon rush-hour service earlier in the day — around noon. GO’s “early homebound” rush-hour service, in turn, requires local transit agencies to revise the schedules of buses that usually meet GO trains to take passengers into residential neighbourhoods.

Brampton Transit


GO Transit is revising the schedule of 31 Kitchener trains to provide “early homebound” service. GO is canceling some trains and operating earlier afternoon rush-hour service. Brampton Transit is scheduling buses to meet early trains at GO stations.

Brampton Transit is also decreasing rush-hour service along several routes throughout the holiday season.

92 Bramalea GO shuttle

Brampton Transit supports GO Transit’s “early homebound” rush-hour service by scheduling earlier buses along the route. Buses meet earlier GO trains operating along the 31 Kitchener line at Bramalea GO Station.

Buses leave Bramalea GO Station at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. The buses end their trips on Bramalea Road North south of Williams Parkway East at 1:50, 2:50, 3:50, 5:50 and 6:50 p.m. Since GO is also canceling the trains that usually leave Union Station at 4:15 and 5:15 p.m., Brampton Transit is also canceling the buses that usually leave Bramalea at 5 and 6 p.m.

GO is operating early homebound rush-hour service along all train lines and manybus routes.

65 Barrie trains and buses

Trains

GO operates earlier northbound trains along the line.

Early trains leave Union Station at 12:40 and 1:40 p.m. The trains serve all stations along the line until Allandale Waterfront GO Station, ending their trips at 2:23 and 3:23 p.m.

Another early train leaves Union at 2:40 p.m. The train serves all stations until East Gwillimbury GO Station, ending its trip at 3:43 p.m.

GO is canceling the trains that usually leave Union at 4:40 and 5:35 p.m. (The trains usually end their trips in Allandale at 6:23 and 7:18 p.m.

To accommodate the revised train schedule, GO is canceling many bus trips along the 65 route or adjusting their schedules. It’s also revising service along the 63 King City / Toronto and [68] Barrie / Newmarket routes.

Buses

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Aurora, Newmarket and East Gwillimbury to travel aboard the earlier trains, it’s cancelling many northbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal in the early afternoon.

65 branch

GO is canceling the local buses that usually leave Union at 12:10, 12:40, 1:10, 1:40, 2:10, 2:40 and 3:10 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in East Gwillimbury GO Station bus terminal at 1:25, 1:55, 2:25, 2:55, 3:25, 4 and 4:40 p.m.)

65B branch

It’s canceling the buses that usually leave Union at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 2:25, 3:25 and 4:40 p.m.)

It’s canceling the buses that usually leave Union at 2:55 and 3:30 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Aurora GO Station bus terminal at 3:50 and 4:40 p.m.)

It’s canceling the express bus that usually leaves Union at 3:35 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in East Gwillimbury at 4:45 p.m.)

GO is operating earlier northbound trains that arrive in Bradford GO Station at 1:51 and 2:51 p.m.

To accommodate passengers connecting with the earlier trains, GO is revising the schedule for the buses that usually leave Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 1:20 and 2:20 p.m. The buses arrive in Bradford GO Station bus terminal to pick up train passengers at 1:55 and 2:55 p.m. and end their trips in Downtown Barrie Terminal at 2:47 and 3:47 p.m.

GO is operating another early train that ends its trip in East Gwillimbury GO Station at 3:43 p.m. To accommodate passengers transferring from this train, GO revises the schedule for the bus that usually leaves Newmarket at 3:35 p.m. It arrives in East Gwillimbury at 3:45 p.m. to pick up train passengers and ends its trip in Barrie at 5 p.m.

GO is operating earlier trains along the 31 Kitchener line that arrive in Malton GO Station at 1:14 and 2:14 p.m. To accommodate passengers transferring from this train, GO operates earlier buses, leaving Malton GO Station at 1:24 and 2:24 p.m. They end their trips on Columbia Way east of Queen Street North in Bolton at 1:59 and 2:59 p.m.

GO is canceling the northbound bus that usually leaves Malton at 2 p.m., ending its trip in Bolton at 2:35 p.m.

GO is operating an early northbound bus. It leaves York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 12:33 p.m. It ends its trip on Albion - Vaughan Road north of Industrial Road in Bolton at 2:20 p.m.

Instead, GO is operating an early westbound train along the 31 Kitchener line that arrives in Mount Pleasant GO Station at 1:35 p.m. A bus operating along the 31W branch of the 31 Guelph / Georgetown / Toronto route leaves Mount Pleasant at 1:45 p.m. and ends its trip in University Centre Terminal at 3:03 p.m. Another early train arrives in Georgetown GO Station at 2:47 p.m. A bus operating along the 31S branch of the 31 Guelph / Georgetown / Toronto route leaves Georgetown at 2:57 p.m., ending its trip in University Centre Terminal at 3:57 p.m.

GO is operating an extra eastbound bus along the route. The bus leaves the Hamilton GO Centre at 11:50 a.m. It ends its trip in Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 12:45 p.m.

GO is operating an early northbound bus along the route. The bus leaves Finch GO Bus Terminal at 1:08 p.m. It serves all stops along the route and ends its trip in the Glenwoods Park ‘n’ Ride carpool lot in Keswick at 2:13 p.m.

It’s also canceling the buses that usually leave Finch at 4:38 and 5:38 p.m. (They usually arrive in Keswick at 6:03 and 6:58 p.m.)

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Vaughan and King City to travel aboard earlier trains along the 61 Barrie, it’s cancelling all northbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal and operating along this route in the early afternoon.

Specifically, it’s cancelling the buses that usually leave Union at 12:20, 1:20, 2:20, 2:50 and 3:30 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips on Keele Street across from Station Street near the King City GO Station at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, 4:05 and 5 p.m.)

31 Kitchener trains and buses

GO operates earlier westbound trains along the line.

An early train leaves Union Station at 12:45 p.m. It serves all stations along the line until Mount Pleasant GO Station, ending its trip at 1:35 p.m.

Two more early trains leave Union at 1:45 and 2:45 p.m. They serve all stations along the line until Georgetown GO Station, ending their trips at 2:47 and 3:47 p.m.

GO has cancelled the trains that usually leave Union at 4:15 and 5:15 p.m. (They usually serve all stations along the line and end their trips in Georgetown at 5:21 and 6:21 p.m.

(The 5:22 p.m. bus usually operates along the 90 branch and ends its trip on Waverly Road South north of Baseline Road West in Bowmanville at 6:17 p.m. The 5:50 p.m. bus usually operates along the main 90 branch and ends its trip on King Avenue East east of Beaver Street South in Newcastle at 6:45 p.m.)

GO is operating early eastbound trains along the line.

Early trains leave Union Station at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. The trains operate express - without stopping - to Rouge Hill GO Station, then serve all other stations along the line, ending their trips in Oshawa GO Station at 1:21, 2:21 and 3:21 p.m.

GO is operating early buses along the 91 Newcastle / Oshawa express route to meet the early trains that arrive in Oshawa at 1:21, 2:21 and 3:21 p.m.

GO is canceling the trains that usually leave Union at 4:25, 4:53 and 5:35 p.m. (The 4:25 and 4:53 p.m. trains usually end their trips in Oshawa at 5:12 and 5:40 p.m. The 5:35 p.m. train usually ends its trip in Pickering GO Station at 6:16 p.m.) GO is also canceling the eastbound buses operating along the 90 Newcastle / Oshawa local and 91 Newcastle / Oshawa express routes that usually meet the trains in Oshawa.

To accommodate the revised train schedule, GO is canceling many bus trips along the 21 route, or adjusting their schedules. It’s also revising service along the 25 Waterloo / Mississauga route to maintain service for passengers traveling further westward.

Buses

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Mississauga and Milton to travel aboard the earlier trains, it’s cancelling most westbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal in the early afternoon.

21B branch

It’s cancelling the buses that usually leave Union at 12:30, 1, 1:30, 1:50, 2:10, 2:30, 2:45, 3, 3:15 and 3:25 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in on Martin Street north of Main Street East in Milton at 1:40, 2:10, 2:40, 3, 3:25, 3:50, 4:10, 4:30, 4:50 and 5 p.m.)

It’s also adjusting the schedule so that the westbound buses that usually leave Union at 8:20 and 9:20 p.m. leave ten minutes later than usual at 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. The buses serve all stops along this branch of the route, ending their trips in Milton at 9:40 and 10:35 p.m.

It’s canceling the westbound bus that usually leaves Union at 9:40 p.m. (The bus usually ends its trip in Milton at 10:45 p.m.)

It’s cancelling the express buses that usually leave Union at 3:05 and 3:20 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Lisgar GO Station bus terminal at 4:20 and 4:40 p.m.)

GO is operating extra express buses along the 21K branch to partly replace this service.

21K branch

GO is operating buses along this temporary express branch of the route to support the early train service and to replace local bus service along the 21H and 21J branches of the route. Buses operate between Union Station and Square One GO Bus Terminals without stopping.
