University of Guelph


Both GO Transit and Guelph Transit are decreasing service to and from the university during the holidays.


GO Transit
29 Guelph / Mississauga

29A branch

Friday, December 6 was the last day that GO operated the eastbound buses that usually leave Guelph Central GO Station at 12:50, 1:50, 2:50, 3:50, 4:50 and 5:50 p.m. Fridays only. (The buses arrive in University Centre terminal on the University of Guelph campus at 1:05, 2:05, 3:05, 4:05, 5:05 and 6:05 p.m. and end their trips in the Square One GO Bus Terminal at 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 p.m.)

Friday, December 20 is the last day that GO operates the westbound bus that usually leaves Square One at 7:50 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. The bus arrives in University Centre Terminal at 8:45 a.m. and ends its trip in Guelph Central GO Station bus terminal at 9 a.m.

Regular Monday-to-Friday service resumes Monday, January 6, 2014. Regular Friday-only service resumes Friday, January 10, 2014.

29B branch

Friday, December 6 was the last day this year that GO operated the single westbound bus that serves this branch of the route. The bus usually leaves Square One GO Bus Terminal at 7:10 a.m. Mondays to Fridays and ends its trip in University Centre Terminal at 8 a.m.

Regular Monday-to-Friday service resumes Monday, January 6, 2014.

GO continues to operate all other trips along the route seven days a week throughout the holidays.

48 Guelph / York U

Friday, December 6 was the last day that GO operated buses along some Friday-only trips along the route.

Sunday, December 15 was the last day this year that GO operated any buses along the main branch of the route Sundays and holidays.

Regular Sunday-and-holiday service resumes Sunday, January 5, 2014. Regular Friday-only service resumes Friday, January 10, 2014.

All other buses operating along the main 48 branch of the route continue to provide frequent service between the University of Guelph and York University Mondays to Fridays except holidays.

The last bus to operate along the route this year left Guelph Central GO Station at 3:15 a.m. Friday, December 13. Regular service resumes 12:30 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014.

North London - Elizabeth loop

The last bus to operate along the route this year left University Centre Terminal at 3 a.m. Thursday, December 14. Regular service resumes 1 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014.

West Hanlon - Kortright loop

The last bus to operate along the route this year left University Centre Terminal at 3:30 a.m. Friday, December 13. Regular service resumes 12:30 a.m. Thursday, *January * 9, 2014.

Wednesday, December 19 is the last day this year that GO operates buses along the route.

Regular service resumes Monday, January 6, 2014.

By canceling service along this route during the holidays, GO also decreases service for passengers traveling to and from the Durham College’s North Oshawa Campus.

52 Oshawa - York U

Friday, December 20 is the last day this year that GO operates the eastbound buses that usually leave the Harry W. Arthurs Common on York University’s Keele Campus at 8:15 and 9:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. (The buses usually arrive on the Durham College / UOIT campus at 9:14 and 10:10 a.m. and 4:25 p.m. and in the Downtown Oshawa Terminal at 9:30 and 10:15 a.m. and 4:40 p.m.)

It’s also the last day this year that it operates the westbound bus that usually leaves downtown Oshawa at 1:35 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. (The bus arrives on the Durham / UOIT campus at 1:48 p.m. and on the York campus at 2:10 p.m.)

Regular service resumes Monday, January 6, 2014.

By operating fewer buses along this route during the holidays, GO also decreases service for passengers traveling to and from the Durham College’s North Oshawa Campus and York University’s Keele Campus.

52A branch

Friday, December 6 was the last day this year that GO operated the two eastbound buses that served this branch of the route. (The buses usually left Unionville GO Station bus terminal at 7:10 and 10:10 a.m. Mondays to Fridays and ended its trip on the Durham College / UOIT campus at 7:45 and 10:45 a.m.)

Regular service resumes Monday, January 6, 2014.


University of Toronto Mississauga Campus


MiWay

From Monday, December 23 until Friday, January 3, 2014, MiWay operates less frequent service along the route between the University of Toronto’s Mississauga Campus and the City Centre Terminal Mondays to Fridays. All buses operate along the entire route, without alternate buses short-turning on the campus.

Regular service resumes Monday, January 6, 2014.


University of Toronto Scarborough Campus

(The TTC has not confirmed holiday service levels. This post describes how it decreased the frequency of service during the Christmas and New Year’s season in previous years.)

Since fewer passengers are traveling to and from the college, starting Monday, December 23, the TTC is operating fewer buses along the route Mondays to Fridays from about 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. It also cancels service along the 38A short-turn branch during the holidays.

Buses drop off and pick up passengers at each stop west of the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus every 11 minutes, instead of every 9½ minutes during morning rush hours. They serve stops west of U of T Scarborough every 10 minutes, instead of every 7½ minutes, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. They serve stops west of U of T every 12 minutes, instead of every 6 minutes during afternoon rush hours.

By canceling the 38A branch, the TTC temporarily increases the frequency of service along the route east of U of T. Buses drop off and pick up passengers at stops east of the campus every 11 minutes, instead of every 19 minutes, during morning rush hours. They serve the stops every 10 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. They serve the stops every 11 minutes, instead of every 16 minutes during afternoon rush hours.

Holiday service ends and regular service resumes Monday, January 6, 2014.

Operating fewer TTC buses along this route also affects service for passengers traveling to and from Centennial College’s Ellesmere Campus.

116 A / E Morningside express / local

Since fewer passengers are traveling to and from the college, starting Monday, December 23, the TTC is operating fewer buses along the local / express branch of the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 26 minutes, instead of every 16 minutes during morning rush hours.

Holiday service ends and regular service resumes Monday, January 6, 2014.

Operating fewer TTC buses along this route also affects service for passengers traveling to and from the Centennial College’s Ellesmere Campus.
