Weekend events affect transit services,

Just three events — in Guelph, Hamilton and the Unionville area of Markham — affect transit services in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Area this weekend.

You can ride any Guelph Transit bus for free Friday, November 1 to the Guelph Storm game against the Kitchener Rangers at 7:30 p.m. — if you have a valid ticket to the game. You can ride free of fare to and from the Sleeman Centre Friday evening after 5 p.m. by simply showing the Guelph Transit driver your game ticket.

Hamilton Road 2 Hope Marathon

The City of Hamilton is closing

  • one westbound lane of Mud Street between Upper Centennial Parkway and the Red Hill Valley Parkway,
  • the northbound lanes of the Red Hill Valley Parkway between Mud Street and Barton Street East,
  • all lanes of Barton Street East between the Nash Road North and Woodward Avenue and
  • one Burlington-bound lane of Beach Boulevard between Woodward Avenue / Van Wagner’s Beach Road and Eastport Drive,

Sunday morning to accommodate the event. Participants support CityKidz and The Joy and Hope of Haïti.

The Hamilton Street Railway is detouring buses while the marathon takes place.

2 Barton

From 8:30 until 11:15 a.m. Sunday, November 3, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Barton Street East and Nash Road North, then detour:

southward along Nash North;
westward along Queenston Road; and then
northward along Parkdale Avenues South and North;
eastward along Barton Street East to Woodward Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Woodward.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Barton Street East at Nash Road North, Osborne Avenue and Waverly Street.

Instead, inbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Nash Road North at Nugent Drive (north), Kentley Drive, Nugent Drive (south) and Queenston Road,
  • on Queenston Road at #525 Queenston, Woodman Drive North, Pottruff Road North and Reid, Adair and Parkdale Avenues South,
  • on Parkdale Avenue South at Main Street East and
  • on Parkdale Avenue North at Dunsmure Road, Roxborough, Britannia and Melvin Avenues and Barton Street East.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to Woodward Avenue and Barton Street East, then detour:

westward along Queenston Road;
northward along Parkdale Avenues South and North;
eastward along Melvin Avenue; and then
northward along Woodward Avenue to Barton Street East
resuming their regular route northward along Woodward.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Nash Road North across from Nugent Drive (south), Kentley Drive, Nugent (north) and Barton Street East and
  • on Barton Street East west of Nash Road North and Osborne Avenue and at Waverly Street.

Instead, inbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Queenston Road beside #525 Queenston, at Woodman Drive North, Pottruff Road North and Reid, Adair and Parkdale Avenues South,
  • on Parkdale Avenue South at Main Street East and

56 Centennial

Buses operate along their regular route, but expect delays from about 10 until 11:30 a.m., as participants cross Van Wagners Beach Road from the Red Hill trail to the Beach trail. Hamilton Police Services officers will direct traffic through gaps in the race.

11 Parkdale

From 8:15 until 9:15 a.m. Sunday, November 4, northbound buses operate along their regular route to Paramount Drive [east] and Mud Street, then detour:

eastward along Mud Street West;
northward along Upper Centennial Parkway and Centennial Parkway South;
westward along King Street East; and then
south- and westward along Greenhill Avenue to Mount Albion Road,
resuming their regular route northward along Mount Albion.

Since marathon participants occupy the Burlington-bound curb lane of Beach Boulevard between Woodward Avenue / Van Wagners Beach Road and Eastport Drive, the buses cannot drop off or pick up Burlington-bound passengers along Beach, until all participants clear the streets.

Hamilton Police Services officers will direct buses through gaps in the race at Mud Street West and Upper Centennial Parkway.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Winterberry Drive across from Atlas Street, at Audubon Street South, Apex Court, Audubon Street North, across from Amberwood Street, at Hickory Avenue, Kingsview Drive, Old Mud Street and Mud Street West.
  • on Greenhill Avenue west of Glen Vista Drive and
  • on Beach Boulevard at Van Wagner’s Beach Road, beside #203 and #337 Beach, across from Towers Drive, at Sierra Lane, across from Comet and Windemere Avenues, at Locarno, 4th, 3rd and Pandora Avenues and Eastport Drive.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on King Street East west of Centennial Parkway South and east of Owen Place,
  • on Greenhill Avenue across from Monte Drive, at Tasha Court, south of Tommar Place, south of Summercrest Drive, at St. Stephen Street, Blanche Court, Ambrose Avenue, Quigley Road, Putting Place, Glen Manor Street and Mount Albion Road.

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.

43 Stone Church

The westbound bus that leaves Highland Road West west of Aubrey Avenue beside Saltfleet Secondary School at 7:53 a.m. Sunday, November 2 operates along its regular route.

The westbound bus that leaves Saltfleet Secondary at 8:55 a.m. operates along its regular route to First Road West and Isaac Brock Drive, then detours:

west- and northward along Isaac Brock;
westward along Gordon Drummond Avenue;
northward along Marston Street; and then
westward along Paramount Drive to Winterberry Drive,
resuming their regular route westward along Paramount.

The bus skips its regular stops

  • on First Road West across from Electra Court, John Murray Street and Branthaven Court,
  • on Isaac Brock Drive at William Johnson Street,
  • on Paramount Drive across from Pembroke Street and beside Valley Park Loop,
  • on Winterberry Drive across from Atlas Street, at Audubon Street South, Apex Court, Audubon Street North, across from Amberwood Street, at Hickory Avenue, Kingsview Drive, Old Mud Street and Mud Street West, south of Mud Street West and at Paramount Drive.

The eastbound bus that leaves Meadowlands Terminal at 7:55 a.m. Sunday, November 3, operates along its regular route to Paramount Drive and Winterberry Drive, then detours:

eastward along Paramount to Marston Street,
resuming its regular route southward along Marston.

The TTC has been detouring the buses since Monday, June 3 during a major road rebuilding project on Warden Avenue between Major Mackenzie Drive East and 16th Avenue.

From 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday, November 3, the TTC further detours the buses.

Southbound buses start their trips at Angus Glen Community Centre, then proceed:

westward along Major Mackenzie Drive East;
southward along Woodbine Avenue; and then
eastward along 16th Avenue to Warden Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Warden.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Warden Avenue south of Major Mackenzie Drive West, at Cachet Parkway [south], across from Glenbourne Park Drive, at Calvert Road and 16th Avenue.

They also skip their usual detour stops

  • on Major Mackenzie Drive East at Angus Glen Boulevard and Kennedy Road,
  • on Kennedy Road at Schoolhouse Road, The Fairways, Angus Glen Boulevard, across from Bur Oak Avenue and at 16th Avenue and
  • on 16th Avenue at Yorkton Boulevard, across from Normandale Road [east] and [west] and at Country Estates Drive.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Major Mackenzie Drive East at Warden Avenue, across from Old 17th Avenue and at Hazelton Avenue,
  • on Woodbine Avenue south of Major Mackenzie Drive East, at Oakford Drive, Hillmount Road and Markland Street and
  • on 16th Avenue at Buttonfield, Rodick and Greystone Roads and Lockridge and Warden Avenues.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

From 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday, November 3, northbound buses operate along their regular route to William Berczy Boulevard and Major Mackenzie Drive East, then detour:

eastward along Major Mackenzie East to The Bridal Walk,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Major Mackenzie Drive East at Kennedy Road and
  • on Kennedy Road at Schoolhouse Road.

Instead, northbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Major Mackenzie Drive East at The Bridal Walk.

Southbound buses start their trips on Major Mackenzie Drive East at The Bridal Walk, then proceed:

southward along The Bridal Walk; and then
westward along Bur Oak Avenue to Kennedy Road,
resuming their regular route southward along Kennedy.
